Are you Pro-Bamba or Anti-Bamba?

Post#1 » by Skin » Sun Aug 8, 2021 7:09 am

This should be a fun crow eating thread down the line. :D

He's out most controversial player right now. No standing on the fence. For or against? How about it, man up and stake your fate! 8-)

I don’t get why you’d be anti-Bamba unless you expected him to be a superstar by now. May not have lived up to his draft position yet, but now he has a great chance to do so. He’s basically like another rookie, or a reclamation project we’ve allowed him to become.

But like any player outside of Suggs, I’m not married to him or his future on the team until there’s good reason to believe so. This is an evaluation year, and I hope we get proactive and figure out who’s dead weight quickly and move on from them.

I'm pro both Mo's lol. I feel like most big men take a bit to really contribute and he hasn't had a summer to work on his game bc of health. I'm sure he's maturing physically and mentally now especially seeing the center spot open up. Not everyone is Shaq or even Dwight some players take longer like Vuc. There's aren't many Magic players I don't root for though.

Anti. I hate lazy players. If he can turn things around, good. But I highly doubt he ever becomes more than 15-20 minutes backup on average teams.

I dont think Bamba is important enough right now to be pro or anti him. I am pro Orlando Magic.
I wouldnt trust him to show consistent effort outside contract year. All we heard and saw until now is that he doesnt like to work, he shows no motor and doesnt get grasp of simple basketball concepts like pick and roll defense.
I will be very happy if he improves this offseason i am very pro Bamba in this regard, but i wouldnt pay him any significant money long term.
WCJ is also in a contract year and he is not doing all that fuss about him.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Crow eating? Jesus Christ. When Payton fans eat their portion or their ?Gordon alllstar crew ? Fultz jumpshot crew?
Bamba was 6th overall pick. Chances that he turns his draft stock and what we invested are zero. At this stage best you can hope is that we don't overpay him and he turns into servicable, replacment level body.
Everything else is like Hezonja. Top 10 pick that turned into collosal mistake. It's draft, sometimes you end up with Lebron, but most of the time you go home with Al Faruq Aminus of the world.

There is no "anti" or "pro" anything. Just fringe nba player who gets support of his current team fanbase because once upon a time somebody told them he will be next Gobert. And for last 3 years his on court value has been piss poor , walmart version of Nerlens Noel and Jason Smith. :hoop:

Low motor doesn't mean lazy. A lot of it is conditioning/strength/coordination stuff. None of the players that didn't work out here were ever lazy. However, I will always say Jeff Green actively walked up court and played like he wanted to be on a contender his entire stint here.

I just kinda hate how some players get labeled "lazy" like if Bamba just "tried" he would be 25/10. It's insulting to players. It's in his best interest to try to make money and extend his NBA career. I'll see him be out of position, get tired, or look awkward because of his coordination but it's not because of lack of trying.

If every player had an easy fix to what makes them successful in the NBA, you'd see 300 all stars.

I'm sure you can find singular plays where any player could've put more effort into plays running someone down or contesting harder, but we saw our bigs play for years a very similar way defensively so it may have been a scheme thing with Clifford.

And Chicago had a very similar thread about WCJ like this so it's not like we have our answer in either of our centers.. WCJ is the shiny new toy that was in a similar spot and got traded, so unless one really impresses this year, both should have a set level of expectation on them.

I am an Orlando Magic fan and thus pro-Bamba.

For real though, I liked the pick when it was made (oof) and it obviously hasn't gone well so far, but I'm still holding out hope that he can develop into a starting caliber center. He has a few nice tools, but hasn't put it all together (yet). I hope we see a step forward this season. If it doesn't happen under coach Mosley, it'll probably never happen. At least not in Orlando.

We are all Pro-Bamba in the sense it would be great if he develops to become a starting level Center in the NBA. The anti-Bamba in all of us is a reflection on how unlikely that will be.

Look: today I am a Bacon fan: he is a Magician and I thys want him to succeed. We should all want all 14/15 players on the final roster to be a lot more than expected.

I'm not pro or anti any player (maybe except Fournier XD). I'm pro Orlando Magic. What's best for the team it's the best for me.
But watching the anger and frustration the anti-mambas write with, I'm definitely on the opposite side.
I want anything that could piss'em all as much as possible and if that means Mamba having a breaking season and getting a sweet contract in return, I'm all for it

LOL, it's the pro-Bamba side which is way more invested in this and likely to cry tears of frustration.

I'm super Anti-Bamba. But I would obviously love for him to prove me wrong as that would help the Orlando Magic.

He doesn't bother me as a person obviously. By all indications, he seems to be a pretty good guy.

He's the laziest player I've ever seen in my life though. Those horror stories from Cole and Ross should tell you everything.

I'm sorry SOUL, I disagree that he isn't lazy. We're not saying just any player can be a 25 and 10 guy. We're not even saying that Bamba could do that if he tried his heart out.

But he's so clearly naturally talented, that if he were able to improve his effort and court/defensive awareness, he'd be a monster C in today's league.

This is true.

But to be fair, it's because if pro-Bamba posters were to be proven wrong, it means that the Magic wasted a pick and have to continue searching for the C of the future.

Whereas if anti-Bamba posters, like me, are proven wrong, it can only mean a good thing for the franchise we love.

The only annoying thing for anti-Bamba posters would be the pro-Bamba posters never living it down. I could live with that as long the team is playing well and has a bright future.
