There are just so many capable of contributing defensively & on both ends.

He had a great scoring game.

Interesting thing is that we seem to have 2 legit defensive guards in Deeky and Garrett - 2 super long real defenders. But what I feel we really need is a scoring guard that can just create and get buckets. Jimmy/Bam/Tucker can hold the defense togther but a talented scorer guard can really help if Lowry is out.

Nembhard might be the most natural scorer of the 3, but my guess is we'll keep the 2 defensive PGs over him.

interesting 3 games coming up.

Garrett's definitely a lock for one 2 way.

I also liked Stewart, Thought he showed very good discipline and fundamentals through the first 3 games. Strong defender, played well positionally, and did the little things that are important like setting good screens, boxing out every play and doesn't try to do more than he's capable. He has good measurements at 6'6 with a 7'0 wingspan. Feel like if we develop his offensive game he could be a solid player eventually.

But after seeing Nembhard play today I think he's got some good competition. At 6'5, 195lbs, 6'10 wingspan. I actually thought he looked taller than he's listed, at least he seems like he plays bigger than 6'5. It's only one game but he seems like he's very active, well skilled and has a good nose for the ball. He also showed some potential as a solid 1 on 1 player.

Would have been nice to see the team play with Yurtseven today though feel like its harder to evaluate some guys when there's a clear mismatch in Bol Bol on the floor Potter is our only bigman. That's why Strus had so many fouls because we sent Bol Bol to the line 14 times so he didn't get any easy buckets.

They don't have enough trade value to be worth trading at the moment.

Their stock is at rock bottom, might as well keep them and hope for improvement. Rethink it at trade deadline.

I feel like we'd likely need Nembhard more than Jarreau. I think adding 2 PGs who's skillset's overlap when we currently have Lowry and Vincent would be slightly overkill.

I say we bring in Nembhard and he can take Oladipo's spot at 3rd string SG until he's healthy and bring in Garrett to fight with Vincent for the backup PG spot.

Lowry/Vincent/Garrett
Robinson/Herro/Nembhard/Oladipo
Butler/Strus/KZ
Tucker/Morris/UD
Bam/Dedmond/Yurtseven

Feel like that's going to be our roster going into next season at this stage.

KZ is garbage. Gabe is garbage.

Need to bring in another vet or two to replace the trash. I like Marcus Garrett though. Looks like a real find.

KZ is going to be hard to get off the roster. We basically have to pay a team to take him off our hands at this point and releasing him does nothing for our cap situation. As it currently stands we have two roster spots open but only enough money to sign a vet minimum player before heading into the luxury tax. If Heat could get a team to take on KZ for a non conveying 2nd round pick and open up another roster spot that would be best case scenario. In the mean time everybody needs to stop wasting there breath on having to bring back UD. Ideally we need to sign a vet wing and a vet PG. Avery Bradley could fill both of those roles for us but I have to imagine he wants more then the vet minimum a this current time. This is why we haven't made a move yet imo to shore up the last legit roster spot. The more days that go by without signing UD the better I'm feeling we are going to do the right thing and sign a player that can actually play instead of adding more dead roster spots. IMO I think we have enough to cover the wing until Oladipo gets back but backup PG is an absolute must right now. Looks like we can shore up defensive wing with the two way players we have. Sign a vet PG and we can get through this.

C/PF Bam Adebayo C Dewayne Dedmon C Omer Yurtseven
PF/SF PJ Tucker PF/C Markieff Morris
SF Jimmy Butler SF/SG Max Strus SF/PF KZ Okpala
SG/SF Duncan Robinson SG Tyler Herro (SG/SF Marcus Garrett)Two way player
PG Kyle Lowry PG Gabe Vincent (SG/PG Victor Oladipo) Injured Player 5-6 months

It literally sticks out like a sore thumb how bad we need help at the backup PG spot. It needs to be a veteran. Can't rely on a young two way PG or Gabe Vincent to step in for Lowry. I could also make a case that we should be using the other two way on a front court player. Specifically a young developmental prospect at the 4 spot.

Honestly pissing me off we have Dante Exum on the wire right now and he's not on our roster. He reminds me of Shaun Livingston after he got over all the injuries. Would be absolute perfect fit on this team. He most likely wants a lot more then the vet minimum. I don't blame him.

You guys are brutal

Give KZ the chance to have his first full summer and more than 20 games in the G-League before we find ways to dump him. The kid just turned 22 yo, younger than several Summer League undrafted players. He was a long term project for the coaching staff from the very beginning. Let's talk about dumping him after February at the very least.

I could understand being rusty, I don't understand how bad his movements with the ball are nearing his 3rd year of being a professional which is key because he has had time and the money to work on his game. My issue with KZ is that either he can't get better or doesn't have the work ethic to become better, it's alarming at this point and Miami has to make a decision with him at the end of next season with his contract ending.

I think Miami envisioned KZ being a cheap replacement for DJJ but that's not worked as plan and that's fine, everyone misses on draft picks because you don't know how passionate they will be with working on their game, sometimes you take chances and miss.

Unless KZ is traded he's not going anywhere this year, if they make a trade maybe they can add him to the package to create another open roster spot.

Would love it if we added Exum, nice tall versatile guard that can play 1-3, he's be a a serviceable backup to Lowry if he can stay healthy.

We need to try and nab Dwyane Bacon, although you already have a guy who can get buckets in Tyler off the bench, it wouldnt hurt to have another guy off the bench that can get his own.

Stanley Johnson is still on my list as well.

I've read the name Stanley Johnson one too many times; I'd rather give Garrett a shot, though I'm not confident that he can score in the NBA

The last roster spot should probably go to a vet that could help us tho-- if we're trying to go far this yr, need depth

Dwyane Bacon would be a really nice add. He can score but needs to get his 3 point percentage up. We may be able to help him with that. Atleast he shoots above 80 from the line.

agreed, the moment the gabe subs for lowry the opp will likely go on a run unless they switch jimmy at PG duties

A guy I'm interested in is Antonio Blakeney who I've seen with Chicago but last night he was with Portland, just looked at his box score and he scored 27 points in 10 FGA. I've noticed his offense when he was with Chicago and seems to have a lot of offensive punch but he's not really getting much of a chance at the NBA level. Maybe he's a guy who doesn't work well in a structured environment or it's because he only looks for his own shot?

Last night's summer league highlights for him.

In Chicago.

Yeah... he's seen as a ballhog, someone did a youtube video about it.
