this is cool interview to get to know Begarin as a person. The thing that I took away from this interview is that he is very focused and driven. He's very serious, not a joking kind of guy. I don't even think he smiles once during the whole interview.

He simply wants to work hard, be the best player he can be and play in the NBA. That's it. I'm rooting for him.

Thanks for sharing this. Juhaan does indeed seem focused on elevating his game, something he has managed to do every year, beginning in Guadeloupe, and continuing in France. He helped get his team promoted to the French professional A-League (Jeep Elite). We will hopefully learn more beginning today when Summer League play begins. As with Yam Madar, confidence is not lacking, nor is athletic ability.

Thank you for sharing this video. The kid looks very intelligent and mature, he'll fit right in with the likes of Nesmith and Grant.

I like it that it he asked to play in SL despite likely being told that the Celtics don't have wiggle room this year. The kid really believes in himself.

He was as good as I imagined. It's remarkable how comfortable and in control he is for his age. He's got an insane blend of size, skill, BBIQ and athleticism. I'm worried he won't get the same minutes and coaching that he would over here. I also don't know exactly where he fits in with us since he's more of a Harden type combo guard with the upside to initiate the offense but he'll likely be forced to play off ball due to us having Pritchard and Tatum handling the ball. Just based on talent he's got it all. I hope we see much more of him in the upcoming games.

I am just happy to see him knock down 2 baseline 3 pointers to start the game. Since that is his supposed weakness.

BTW other than age and experience, he doesn't appear the have any weaknesses.

He made a great play at the end of today's game and then he made the right play to get the ball over to Pritchard. He understood the situation and kept his head. I can't recall where he was playing in France, but he must have been well-coached.

I hope all of that, except making the team this year. Let him develop off the contract clock one more year while we have Richardson and figure out what Romeo & Aaron are giving us.

I do, however, reserve the right to fully change this opinion based off 2-3 nice plays in SL.

Oh, 100%. I want him to stay in Europe for 1 (maybe 2) years.

Him playing in summer league is good for him to get the experience playing with some of his future teammates and going against NBA caliber competition and it's good for the team to get a better sense of what they have in this kid. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't want him stashed for stashing sake. If he can play I want him on the roster and part of our depth rotation. The sooner he's here in our organization the better. Ainge seemed to overthink these picks. If the kid can perform at this level keep him here. Other successful foreign late draft picks in other organizations didn't go back overseas to improve their game did they. I'm talking about Giannis, Parker, Gobert to name three. Not a perfect correlation but didn't they grow their craft with the team.

This guy's atleticsim and frame.WOW. Long way to go as a player, but he's 19. Look at his first year as a pro in second divison france. 4.3 PPG. Second year like 10.5 PPG.

He got so much better in one year. They gotta find somewhere for him to develop an NBA skill set.

Does anyone know his contract situation in France?

He got beat off the dribble a lot in his first SL game, which is fine, and people hit some tough shots over him. But his wingspan allowed him to get pretty good contests on those shots, even if his defensive footwork has room for improvement.

Still reminds me of a slightly taller and more athletic Marcus Smart. Great potential down the road, but will need a few more years of development.

The C's need better conditioning coaching. Grant, SL PP, and even young Mr. Begarin could use leaner and meaner bodies to increase speed and strength.

I think we all thought the same thing watching Jugann... super raw, but potential up the wazoo! Kids got the physical tools down. Body is perfect to play the modern 4. I like his attitude and hustle. Will he be in the G league or overseas? Rooting for him

Am I the only one who thought he looked like he had a little too much weight on him? Seems like he could be a bit fitter.

yeah I think he has put some weight on over the past few months.

Some sites list him at 192 lbs so I am thinking that's what he was at the start of last season but a few weeks ago at G-league elite camp he weighed in at 214 lbs. some of high europe highlight vids he looked a little faster/more explosive. So it seems like he added the 22 lbs and lost a little speed.

We'll see, he literally just turned 19 so his body is still changing/developing and I'm sure we can get him in tip top shape once he's in an NBA strength and conditioning program.

Still, he does have flashes of that speed/explosiveness like when he made the steal that iced the game.

He likes to defense! :)

I think that he's more of a 2/3 at 6'5".
Needs to keep playing.

He's a bit out of shape. He needs to stay here, on a Two-Way, and get into NBA shape.

He's 6'6". That's what he measured at the G-league elite camp a few weeks ago. 6'6" with a 7'0" wingspan.

Measurements with shoes on are what the NBA counts as official, and they round up if they're a 1/2 inch over:

https://gleague.nba.com/news/2021-nba-g-league-elite-camp-player-measurement-results/

With that being said, I also think he projects more as a 2/3 wing type rather than a 4.

I watch that and thinks, "well, it was a bad pass", but credit due to JBv2 for anticipating and taking the opportunity given. And he didn't try to play hero ball at the other end and try to score, but got the the ball to Pritchard.

Seems like a smart guy, and those Inspector Gadget arms are already paying dividends. 8-)
