I mean Lauri is looking to get paid. The Pelicans are talking about offering him $17M per. The Blazers are all kinds of capped out. Who would you have them send back: CJ, Nurkic, and/or Covington? How would they better after that?
DJJ+? If Lauri will take 15M in a better situation (I would argue Portland is a better fit) give himself a 3 year with a PO (3/50 with 3rd year being an option) DJJ + pick + Simons.
You gotta find some bench guys, but I would rather have that problem then looking at Faried/Beas, Millsap etc to be a starter (or going absurdly small)
You're just a lot higher on Lauri than I am. I think he's a problematic fit on the Blazers roster defensively. He needs a certain amount of touches/looks in order to offset his defensive limitations. I'm not sure Portland handing him $15M per over three years *helps.*
