They have been trying to figure out ways to give him extra rest between starts. They did it a couple starts or so ago,and it worked.
Well we just had the all-star break, that where he got a few extra days off. and they’ve switched to a 6 man rotation plus July was his smallest workload for innings and all season so this is actually the most rest he’s seen all season.
Plus he allowed only 5 earned runs in his previous 5 starts, so he wasn’t exactly struggling coming in. June was the month he struggled most.
Now perhaps he could use an extra day off, I just don’t see how having exactly one bad start is the sample the proves that. He had looked pretty sharp in both starts over the last 11 days.
I give Boston credit for being a good hitting team, and JD coming back helped to knock Ryu out.Too bad Boston lost though-lol.
Ryu has been our number 1 for a while, and after a while it can wear on a player. The dog days are here since July so a lot of players get tired this time of the season. We just need to score earlier for him next time.
Ryu has arguably been our #4 recently it seems and maybe even our #5. Which isn’t a shot at him, but a reflection on how underrated our rotation is right now. Stripling has a 2.69 ERA over his past 13 starts. Ross Stripling!
