Not surprising he wants to play here again. He was/is beloved around the city and played his best ball here by far.
Assuming it’s a minimum contract, I’d love to have him here over Terry or Burke but I don’t see Cuban or Nico doing that

Re: Dennis Smith JR would like to join the mavs
DSJ has more upside than any of our backup guards, so I would entertain it. But, his ego & attitude have always stood in the way. I'd want him to play for the Texas Legends and prove he can dominate down there before I would have him with the Mavs.
Not even sure if that's an option, if he's already out of moves back & forth on a 2 way, but that's what his ego needs. He needs to humble himself #1. Then if he ever did come up with the Mavs, he'd have to be rock solid on who's team it is. Not DSJ. Luka's team.

I would take over him over Burke at least. Honestly he's probably not better then Burke right now (considering recent seasons) but he's definitely more talented. Our team desperately needs a talent injection. Will it work out if he signs? Most likely not. But if it does, it would solve the playmaking issue we desperately need to address. It's worth the risk, especially if Burke goes via a trade later in the offseason.

DSJ is still only 23yrs old.
He won't turn 24 until November 25th.

I’d like to see DSJ come back but not at the expense of Terry, Hinton, or any of the young projects. For me DSJ would have to be a young replacement for Burke.

I would also like to join the Mavs, for the last 15 years in fact... still won´t happen. As a minimum salary prospect for 15th spot maybe worth a shout but really tricky to see it happen.

The board makes my head hurt sooooo often.
Did you guys contemplating DSJ as the 15th man or whatever follow his continued decline at the Knicks and then the Pistons?
There are bunches of players whose career trajectory isn't "drop off a cliff and keep falling faster and faster" who you could have as a 15th man. Some of them are even good "towel waivers" - something DSJ notably is not.

I hope he gets some minutes this upcoming season to see what he's capable of doing. I wish he and RC worked things out but DSJ hasn't done anything since we traded him.
