I am confused as to why people are so focused on Suggs. Raps did not even draft him.

Yeah it's a really confusing mystery. It couldn't be because we had the chance to draft him, and passed, could it?

You people have been making the same points over and over again since draft night. Theres absolutely nothing new added to the conversation. We missed on a superstar, we would have been good next year with suggs, front office are idiots, barnes is a bust. Anything else we need to read for the 100th time?

Right, because it's so unlike this board for points and opinions to be repeated over and over.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

AbC? wrote:Good game for Suggs. A lot of his positive attributes translated tonight - rebounding, energy and hustle on defense. 3 point shot looked smooth and hit some midrange jumpers early on.

I was one of a handful of posters who wasn't sure about him BEFORE we passed on him. I still have the same concerns. Limited advantage creation, lack of creativity off the bounce, isolation shot making ability. Didn't really show much in that sense but if his first step translates at the NBA level he won't need much to gain advantages of PnRs.

I still see him as an excellent connecting type player in the vein of Lowry/Holiday/Lonzo/Haliburton, not deviating from that.

The rest of the Magic team looks beyond awful, especially Cole Anthony. They'll be battling to be the worst team in the league pretty sure.

Agreed. He basically looked like his scouting report, which is a really good **** player, but not a franchise star. Still there’s a lot to be excited about as an Orlando fan.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

1. Scottie becomes a superstar and Suggs is a Jerryd Bayless reincarnated
2. Suggs becomes a superstar and Scottie busts harder than Kwame Brown

There is another universe where both Barnes and Suggs become very good players (same tier or one surpasses the other).

We're discussing the #4 and #5 picks in a stacked draft class - let's relax, Scottie played like a #4 pick that is raw but oozing with potential, Suggs played like a #5 pick that has a much higher floor. Only time will tell who ends up where, but let's be happy for both these guys.

Correct, and it’s equally hilarious watching everyone micro-dissect a **** summer league game as if it foreshadows then next 5 seasons.

The last summer league MVP was Brandon Clarke…yeah I don’t know who he is either.

Suggs would be our starting 2 guard let’s no kid ourselves.

Then the counter would be, who shoots better from deep. Him or GTJ or whoever we plug in there.

I think in this case we’d either let GTJ go or work out a sign and trade.

Jrue Holiday doesn’t have anywhere close to the same court vision and passing abilities of Suggs. If Suggs can become an above average shooter they’re not even comparable

This board is hilarious. They were ready to crown Suggs the king of Canada when it looked like we were going to pick him now it’s just a so so player…. just like they claimed Precious wasn’t enough to get Lowry, now Precious is the next BAM. The takes on here are pure comedy.

Do you start him over Freddie G? He looks more advanced. I assume Precious will be on the big roster all season and Freddie 2 will be on the 905.

I have no idea what the Raps scouts and management see in Gillispie he's awful lol

great first game by Suggs.

24-9-1 2 steals 3 blocks! **** teammates who couldn't find a bucket. Suggs more of a scoring point guard but his defense as a guard at the rim seems pretty good.

good handles and great 3 point shot.

Kuminga and Moody were rather pedestrian. both of them foreshadowing the type of guys I am thinking they will be : low IQ chuckers.

ya Gillispie seemed mediocre last year too. I don't understand the hype around him. he's at best 2nd big man off of the bench as a big man depth player.

Precious should be starting but we will see. Precious didn't turn heads last year either. his game in the Olympics showed he can be a decent big man, at least better than Gillispie.

The contract was a good price, but yeah that would have been an interesting route too. It's the shooting we need, that kind of turned me off that path. I see Flynn more as a shooter, so I tend to lean that way.

Suggs was a minus -18 tonight

Barnes was plus +11 last night.

Barnes leading right now.

Suggs forced his 22 shots, Barnes let the game come to him for his 18 shots.

Barnes leading even further.

No way a guy this poised couldn't shoot in two consecutive workouts on purpose. I feel certain he tanked the Toronto workouts so that we wouldn't draft him.

That said, anyone who doesn't want to play for Toronto is not wanted. He should be persona non grata in Canada.

Where did NotMyKawhi go? Suggs won that game for them, and yes he was my guy from the start. Pretty good debut for rookie, but he showed all the intangibles I have loved about him since HS/Gonzaga. A bit shocked about his 1 assist, but his team was trash and Cole was point. Kuminga sometimes looks like he doesn't know how to play basketball, but his potential is super high. I was surprised by Scottie's debut, and he impressed me a lot. I think potentially in 3 years he could be a stud, so while Suggs was my guy I'm not going to hate on Scottie because he's one of us now and it wasn't a bad pick. I just find it strange how the posters here like others said...did a 180 on Suggs, and have to see him fail...why can't they just both reach their potential as star players? I mean c'mon. Anyway, excellent debuts by both..but again, this is SL so don't read too much into this.
