My issue with KZ is that either he can't get better or doesn't have the work ethic to become better, it's alarming at this point and Miami has to make a decision with him at the end of next season with his contract ending.
I think Miami envisioned KZ being a cheap replacement for DJJ but that's not worked as plan and that's fine, everyone misses on draft picks because you don't know how passionate they will be with working on their game, sometimes you take chances and miss.
Unless KZ is traded he's not going anywhere this year, if they make a trade maybe they can add him to the package to create another open roster spot.
Alarming? Really? He's an end of the bench developmental player. If it works, great, if it doesn't, you move on.
I mean, do you have any kind of insider information from coaches or scouts related to his work ethic? And I honestly ask that since you say it with such conviction.
From my perspective, the only fact is that I don't know any better about KZ than you do. What I do know is that the sample size of games that were available to fans like us has been small so far. I get that he might not be to your liking, I can respect that but your statements about the use of his time, money or work ethic he might be lacking are pure speculative at this point. I don't find any of it alarming. Give it time for a bigger sample size is all I am saying.
Well, Miami did give up 3 2nd round picks for him, the Miami brain trust rated him as a 1st round talent and Miami did give him a 3 year contract with no option where even first rounders get 2 years with team options on the 3rd and 4th years. Currently he's taking up a roster spot that may be better utilized by another young player that's hasn't had a chance to prove themselves.
Also, I do have eyes and see someone doing basically nothing different on the offensive end after 2 years of being a professional. If there was some real progress that was viewable even if he wasn't successful that would be one thing, a project moving forward but he really hasn't gotten any better.
Have watched NBA since '84. Like most here, who've been watching the association for a long time, you know talent when you see it. May get some wrong w/ judgement but for the most part you can sense & predict trajectory of most players. I don't see anything in KZ. Never have & still don't. Reinforced even more by his Olympic outing, where he had the opportunity of freedom to showcase himself, he showed the same of what he usually does in a Heat uniform - good defensively & weak on offensive end. I've mentioned before that we baby this kid as if he's going to develop into some sort of significant talent. I think we're wasting our time. Bring this up if i'm wrong but he's not that guy. He's not cut form that cloth.
