I guess the consistent theme in this new system is, if you want a player, you have to come correct with your best offer to ensure you have a legit shot to get a return PM. It is kind of like a shot in the dark, but above all, I think it means GMs can no longer sit back and assess the market. Now GMs will be forced to make bids based on where they value the player, as opposed to attempting to judge where the "market" values the player.

I was also thinking about maybe it be a percentage of the winning bids contract you have to be within that threshold to get an PM back from Bish for players exceeding a certain amount.

Obviously $10 is plenty for guys making under $100 bids. But for the higher prices guys I think $10 might be a too limiting threshold for guys in the +200 range. Lets say a guy has a leading bid of 4 years $391. If you bid 4 years $380 I think thats still a pretty competitive bid to not even get a PM back if this is the method we are going with because you are $1 off a 4 year $391 bid.

Especially thinking about next year when a ton of major FA's will be out there and big $$$ will be thrown away. Maybe a % of the contract would be better as it escalates as the contract goes up. Maybe something like even 10% of the contract if the bidding exceeds $100? That would basically mean you need to be within $20 for $200 players and up to $50 for $500 dollar players.

I was thinking about making it a percentage at first. But the thought of trying to figure out percentages on all of the many players that will be bid on by so many teams during each hour is not something I'm interested in doing or probably could do in the limited amount of time I have in between bidding sessions. It is why I went with the straight flat dollar amount.

I did think about raising the dollar amount as the bid grows. And that is definitely something I could and would do. $10 for every $100 bid is fair. There are definitely adjustments that will be made to the system but I wanted to get it out there since the last thread jumped to 103 pages so quickly.

Yeah I think an escalating fixed value works the exact same and saves you a lot of calculating work.

$10 threshold - for 0-$100
$20 threshold - for $100-$200
$30 threshold - for $200-$300
$40 threshold - for $300-$400
$50 thradhold - for +400 or something like that

I didn't mean to drive you crazy calculating a $37 threshold for a player that has a $370 dollar winning bid

Haha I'll say this, it'll be interesting to see how Silas handles the Rockets roster. The Rockets have some interesting talent, not sure how it all comes together. Sengun on paper I do love absolutely, it'll just be interesting to see how they handle him.
