Vegas has Nwora-idea about the next step the Bucks take this season.

I don't feel bad for him but I can certainly understand how sickening it would be to lose a $80m bet (on myself, which makes it worse) even if I had millions.

Don't think he's all that good but can't go wrong at that price.

Unreal situation. How much more per year did he/his agent think he could make? Was the 4th year a team option? Was he holding out for 1M a year more?

MAX!!! I guess I get it, for like 10 years now way more guys have gotten max or crazy contracts that shouldn't. They figured he would too due to the crazy spending of every NBA free agency. Still, he'd kinda bounced around and was poorly viewed before OKC, should've just put the money in the bank, especially when you're in LA on a title contender and with LBJ.

Seems like a massive gulf in perceptions even compared to some of the other overpays, unless I'm forgetting something. What's the worst max contract in league history?

The market just wasn't there in a way that I think surprised a lot of people. Dallas makes sense as a fit but they didn't seem to have much interest and New Orleans which was in on the Lowry sweepstakes didn't seem to have much interest either. Combined with the Russ and Dinwiddie trades and all of a sudden the market was gone.
That said, I do think its a good move for Boston. I'd pegged them in the 2nd tier of teams in the East after Brooklyn and Milwaukee along with Miami and Atlanta (Philly is off on the side until we see how the Simmons situation shakes out) but they were firmly the lesser of those 3 teams. But now, I think those 3 teams are very comparable.

Steph played great at end of last year, and they assume the warriors drafts picks will either be awesome or dealt for Ben Simmons.
Would acquiring simmons make them that much better really.I know sims is a all star but does he add that much more to the dubs not on the O side he doesnt

I’m just happy the Lakers didn’t get an asset out of Schroeder in a sign and trade.
still learning the game

Yea I agree he doesn't fit now. if they could flip Draymond for him it would make sense but obviously that doesn't make sense for Phi.
I think in general the point of the OP would be that somehow they'll trade for a star (simmons or whoever) to add to the team. But once that didn't happen at the draft we'll see how it plays out in the season, I'm not sure I see a move as of now. Agree with the original that 5th seems high, easily go with BKN, LAL, Bucks, then you have LAC, Den, Utah, Phi, PHX.
Which makes me think, damn if BKN didn't get Harden we'd have a heck of balanced/entertaining season set up with 8-10 teams that legit could win and no clear cut favorite. But those guys are injury prone their so it's not a guarantee anyway.

I'm surprised the Lakers offered him $84m in the first place.
Is Schroeder any better than say Devin Harris was back in the day? Delly looked better next to Lebron than Dennis ever did.
This is going to be the rest of his career now: bouncing around different teams picking up MLE/TPE deals where he can. He's an OK/good player but not much more.

He wanted 100m, so I guess from 21 to 25 APY? Doesn't seem like a great hill to die on but he can make most of it back with a *great* year.
Has to be great because he's now wearing the MLE journeyman brand.

Is Schroeder the guy you get to help you get over the hump though? He was on a team with Lebron and AD and just didn't look like a guy that mattered that much. It's a really good deal for Boston but at the same time adding him in place of Kemba changes absolutely nothing about the Celtics' chances IMO. The only positive is that it frees up cash to make other moves.

Theoretically they are adding not only Klay but someone else with their young picks. With a good supporting cast I think its entirely reasonable. I don't think say Pho/Den/Utah has any better path to win the title. So while it might not happen, they have the assets and talent to be on that level.Daver wrote:Someone please explain to me what the dubs have done this off season that has them with rhe 5th best odds to win a championship.Klay thompsons return will improve them that much how can they have better odds than utah phx etc

I still remember Windhorst saying when Jrue signed his extension that it was proof Schroder made the right call or that it was evidence of what Schroder is looking for or something like that. It was always laughable. He’s a decent player and I would have been happy to have him on the TMLE but he certainly is not THAT level of player.

I'd always think Arenas.

I think he just thought the Lakers were going to do everything they could to win so he had tremendous leverage. I think TT just left the cozy confines of his 5/90 because he was on team LBJ.machu46 wrote:I still remember Windhorst saying when Jrue signed his extension that it was proof Schroder made the right call or that it was evidence of what Schroder is looking for or something like that. I did think a team was gonna throw their MLE at him and LAL would at least get a TPE out of him. Wild to see it get to this level but not surprised to see him have a terribly small market. He's an @s$.
I've never thought he was a positive player. He had 1 good year playing next to CP and SGA as a bench player. He was a big salary dump on his existing contract. His agent should have stopped repping him when he turned down that extension. The league just doesn't look at him like that.

I still have Sixers in tier 1 with us and Nets. Whatever happens with Simmons.
And I dont have Hawks in tier 2. Last year was combination of things but I have Miami and Boston in tier 2. Those 2 teams will fight for #4 spot IMO
