ive played since youth.
and slowly started watching more and more.
and now its the main sport i follow
...and BUCKS 24/7/365 of course.

what ive done is, follow the USa national team.
then, follow the players at each of their clubs.
now, thats a lot, and can be overwhelming and confusing.

the breakdown of the soccer world is like this :
each country has its own league.
England = EPL
Germany = Bundesliga
Spain = La Liga
Italy = SerieA
France = Ligue1
USA = MLS
and so on.
these are the top 5 leagues and our own.

each has its own champion.

in Europe, they then have a tournament of each countries winners, and in these big leagues, up to the top 4 teams. that tourney is called, UEFA Champions League.
this is where u can see the top teams vs each other.
like Manchester City (EPL) vs Bayern Munich (Bundesliga)

and theres a 2nd tier tournament of the next best teams from each countries (in Europe) leagues, called, Europa League.
not as popular or watched, but actually provides better matchups and games earlier in the rounds.

CONCACAF, is the region of North & Central America.
usa, mex, canada, costa rica and others
we also have a Champions League tourney, of the club teams from each country.
most only watch this if their team is in it, and mls is just starting to do well in it.
this tourney starts before mls starts their season, so all the other teams from the other countries are in season, so they usually have the advantage. plus, since mls is newer, the league is just starting to catch/surpass the others.

TLDR
each country has its own league and own champion
each region, has its own tournament

i watch teams that have americans on them, and am not attached to a club

i can discuss this all day, ask questions or message me

Yeah. I think it’s probably best to start by watching USMNT and getting into that scene.

Then, pick a club league to follow. I suggest EPL because it’s awesome soccer, readily televised, and at a great time domestically. Can watch it over coffee or bloodies or at one of the numerous soccer brunch spots around town.

Pick a team to root for in that league. Can be based on anything really. You like Pulisic? Root for Chelsea. Like Steffen, root for Man U. Like powder blue? Root for City. Like wolves? Root for Wolverhampton. Doesn’t have to make sense. Just know if you pick one of low end EPL teams, there’s a chance they get relegated down with a particularly bad year, and it’ll be tougher to watch.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

Worst major airline?

American Airlines. Easily.

Haven’t flown in 18 months, will never fly AA again.

Watch Youtube highlight videos of Thierry Henry and become an Arsenal fan :lol: Just know it's pain right now and will be for a while.

Don't start with US Soccer, you're going to hate it. Granted the USMNT is going through a really nice phase right now with up and coming stars. Start with EPL (great timing since season starts next week) and go from there. In all honesty watch youtube highlights of epic games, Liverpool vs Barca 2019 2nd Leg Champs League, PSG vs Barca 2017 2nd Leg Champs League, Mardid Vs Barca Derbies (Jose Era), Liverpool vs Arsenal 4-4 draw.

Atleast they have a big network, but wouldnt be shocked if they lost your bags or something AA super good at that. Carry on only when you fly AA.

For an actual flight I can't tell the difference. Small guy with strong bladder.

I like united since you can usually find 1-time passes to the united club for like $15. Stretch out, have a few glasses of wine and some food. Between that and getting CLEAR/Precheck from credit cards it really makes traveling better.

Spence out of Pac fight with detached retina. There's goes the most anticipated fight of this calendar year out the window. ESJ's management hoping to get him in the ring before the end of the year. Been completely dispiriting to see his prime sidelined by the crash, the pandemic and a balky eye.

I applied to about 40-50 jobs over the last 3-4 months. Had one actual interview, one conversation with a recruiter, and that's it.

Looks like I'll be teaching another year. :blank:

Took the advice of a few posters and did a lil research into the premier league and picked Chelsea as my team to follow because I like the jerseys and I know they’re popular enough and a real contender to do some things.

Just watched my first live game after doing research on rules and watching old full matches and it was great, came down to sudden death penalty kicks. I see what the hype is about, I might become addicted lol.

So many people applying, it's incredibly discouraging to look at job you like and see 100+ applicants. I've been at my job for over 4 years now and am starting to realize how lucky I was to get it in the first place.
Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

Isn't that Pulisic's team? That'd be enough to get me cheering for them.

Maybe this is or should be its own thread but those of you who are into collecting and displaying memorabilia what are your favorite ones for the finals/this years run? Looking to add to my collection of canvases, found one of "The Dunk" or whatever we are calling it. Got that one, the Block one is cool but Giannis isnt even blocking it yet in the canvases I have seen. Anyone have a favorite site for custom canvases?

I am building a bar in my basement. I used to bartend and miss it so when we have a party I like to show off some of my favorite sports memories through anything possible.

Chelsea is on the UP right now.
they just won the Champions League.
...also helps they spent 500$m buying players...
which makes them the best team in europe.
Christian Pulisic, is best or top 2 player for USA right now.

what u watched was the uefa super cup.
the winners of the Champions League vs the winners of the Europa League.
its not a major trophy, and its happening before their regular seasons.
teams on both sides could/probably, have changed some players.

still, a trophy for Chelsea is nice.

they are top 3 fave to win the EPL.
manchester city, manchester united, chelsea

ENJOY

Yea I learned all of that basically today, learned the basic rules of soccer/football watching 4 or 5 vids on YouTube, spent a day learning about epl, the other leagues like la liga, German league which you brought up earlier I think and uefa and the tournaments in and around Europe and the conferences of the world which again I think you brought up in a comment so thanks.

I knew coming in today that this was somewhat like a “preseason game” but I really wanted to watch a live game and see if I could call out fouls and infractions live and see if I could follow a game which made it more fun than watching an old match. Was surprised how into it I was and I feel in a month or so I’m going to be wearing a blue jersey singing fight songs in an English accent or something. Watching the game I was able to get a lot more familiar with the players and how subs are used and then watching a postgame show learned about a certain “free agent” that can be important during the season which is exciting and something I can relate to with the nba.

Got my peacock subscription which will let me watch all the epl games whenever so between 8/14 to 10/19 I will be 100% in on soccer/football and it’s going to consume my life and give me my high and low feeling that I miss from watching this postseason bucks run. Thank you to you and the 3 or 4 posters that gave me advice and helped discover another beautiful, stressful sport :lol:

Aight doing well. Next step watch Football Factory (2004) and immerse yourself in the culture :)
It's a pretty fun movie about Chelsea fans and all the rivalries in London. Good actors, amazing music, some really funny parts

I don't know if you play video games, but I'd recommend just buying fifa and messing around on there to subconsciously gain player, team, and tactic knowledge.

Also, Pulisic only plays like half the games for that oil club.
