All of those accolades are a function of who he played next to. He's a great role player who played next to three of the greatest shooters of all time. Steph and KD are among the greatest players of all time, period.
He's an elite role player. But you typically want more than that from a 4th overall pick.
His playmaking and specifically his defense aren’t a function of who he plays with. If you can get a player that provides what he provides with the fourth pick, you take it and run. Why do people think the fourth pick is the first pick? A player like him is a lot more valuable than a mediocre first option that isn’t good enough in his role to win a championship, like DeMar DeRozan, for example.
Draymond Green is a fringe all-star. I see him as a Jrue Holiday-level player who benefitted from playing with the three greatest shooters in history and two greatest scorers of their generation. His defense is good and his playmaking is good, but the play making would not carry over to a mediocre team. He played with excellent talent.
At 4, you draft a damn superstar. Especially considering where Draymond went in the draft.
Wow, a lot to untangle here.
Scottie Barnes is a lot further along than Draymond Green. It's a very lazy comparison. However, the disrespect for Draymond Green on here is absolutely absurd and just shows the amount of casuals that are plaguing these boards.

He's one of the best defensive players of all-time and on offense he is an extremely talented playmaker for his size. Klay and Steph also benefitted from playing with Draymond. They wouldn't have any rings if it weren't for Draymond being their defensive anchor. If that's what Barnes becomes then we got a fantastic player at #4. And I think his ceiling is even higher. As I mentioned earlier, he is much further along than Draymond was at the same age. I think he can be more of an impact on the offensive end.
Secondly, there are like 5 superstars in the entire league. For you to think it's so easy to just scoop up a superstar is just laughable.
Thirdly, it's Summer League and Barnes has actually shown a lot of potential. None of the top 5 picks have actually played extremely well but they all have shown flashes of what they can become. These guys are 20 years old, they aren't going to come in right away and dominate especially in an environment like the Summer League where everyone is out for themselves.
The people on this board is the reason why we don't deserve nice things. It's such a toxic cesspool of negativity.
