I still don’t know why we didn’t get Avery Bradley…
Imagine a defensive line up of
Bradley
Dipo
Butler
Tucker
Bam
Teams getting clamped

I expect Herro would make a leap this year. This is the time he have to be more motivated and aggressive. He already put some more muscle in
Yurt should be a great fit next to Bam but I don't know if Spo gonna play him. After what we saw in SL you need to give that man the fare chance. Yurt gonna need to prove in practice

Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.4 - Beasley Time
I think I'm content with the roster as is right now.
As much as I'd like them to go over the tax and sure up the backup PG and SF now to have security in case of injury and other things. I think we will go into training camp to see what we have with our current guys and wait till the deadline to make any other moves or decide whether to go over the tax.
By the deadline we'll have a better idea of Oladipo's progress and whether he'll be able to contribute or not. If the team looks good and only needs a couple additions to put them over top then we will go into the tax with buyout guys and being able to offer the BAE and what's left of the MLE will put us in good position to get quality guys.
I think we can get more valuable additions using the BAE in the buyout market then we would using it now in free agency.

Maybe. As of today Omer looks like a much better pure scoring big to anchor the second unit if he’s not starting. If Spo goes with 10 then Dedmon plays. My most ideal starters with bench goes 9-10 with Dedmon as the 10th man. Tucker as defensive stopper off bench when Butler sits.
C Omer Yurtseven 7’0 (C Dewayne Dedmon 7’0)
PF Bam Adebayo 6’9 PF Markieff Morris 6’9
SF Jimmy Butler 6’7 SF PJ Tucker 6’5
SG Duncan Robinson 6’7 SG Max Strus 6’5
PG Kyle Lowry 6’1 PG Tyler Herro 6’5
I agree with you. Spo just hates anyone that is taller than 6’10.
And that 10 man rotation looks niiiiiiice

Ofcourse lowry is the better overall player, but arguably Bradley is the better defender hence why I said all defence line up..

I know what you said.
Lowry is probably better or at least equal to Bradley defensively. He is far more switchy and incredible off ball. Bradley is just a ball hawk

Last night's game again showed Garrett and lil Deeky both can be legit backup PG.
Garrett is a bit more disciplined but Deeky has more offensive swagger.
They share the same weakness - 3 point shooting is iffy. Lock them both up and work to improve on that, they have the other skillsets ready on day 1.
They're probably can be better then the Napier's of the world.

Deeky is a 6'5 true point guard. The way he was able to orchestrate the offense yesterday to get others involved would be much needed off the bench. His defense is just the cherry on top. Shooting is a concern, but his strengths overshadows his weaknesses.

If you know what I said.. I said arguably… since u wana argue a point.. let me know how many all defensive team recognitions lowry has made compared to Bradley.. I’ll wait..

gom wrote:I fully expect Herro to get more minutes, especially with the team needing to preserve Lowry for postseason run and Dipo being out. Herro was 18/6/4 per 36 last season and played 30 minutes a game. That should improve with better percentages (.50/.40/.80 seem reasonable and would get him to 20/6/4). Get him 6 minutes more a game and he is 24/7/5. Yeah, I know that's not how it works. More minutes means a player is generally more tired and efficiency suffers.
Still Lowry/Herro/Butler/Duncan/Bam are a pretty good starting 5. Tucker/Strus/Morris/Dedmon off the bench. Dedmon can play 5 or 4. Okpala, Vincent, and Yurtseven can fight for minutes. Oladipo can hang out until next season. He might be ready for the postseason even, but there is no need to rush.
Zero chance we play Duncan at the 4. And Dedmon is strictly a 5.
The starting lineup will be Lowry, Duncan, and Jimmy at the 1-3. U can pretty much set that in stone. At least to start the season.
My question is will Spo be willing to play Bam at the 4 if like Yurt proves he's legit. Dedmon was so good for us in spot minutes as a backup to end the year, but I think that's the extent of his role.
I'm really sick of being dominated down low. I don't want to get ahead of myself and anoint Yurt to be something he isn't. But I also look at this team and see a very clear 2nd tier team in the East that isn't quite there if we are heavily relying on Morris/Tucker at the 4.
On one hand Yurt could be a DNP player most nights. But when I look at what a lineup of what Lowry, Duncan, Butler, Bam, Yurt could be, I actually see a real ceiling there. Our team last year really needed a true big that could hit 3's to be able to play next to Bam.
I've had enough of this small ball. At this point it's actually become uncommon for us not to find an unknown summer league gem. So I don't think my mild optimism that this could eventually be our starting squad is ridiculous (even if I wouldn't bet on it).

Yeah I've converted, I'm with you on Deeky Rex. The way he played in the PnR yesterday convinced me. That's something solid that we can build on.

Why do I feel that this team is gritty enough to make some noise? I feel like this team can play some tough basketball like the 04 Pistons and may surprise us and the league.

In terms of PG play then Deeky for sure is a lot more ahead of Garrett. Garrett did not play full time PG until late in his college career. He's more of a standard wing.

Re: MIAMI HEAT Offseason Thread 2021 Vol.4 - Beasley Time
It is quite strange that we've played so much small ball lineups with Spo but we've also been such a slow pace team and rarely play in transition.
If Yurtseven can be a solid rim protector and rebounder, allowing Bam to comfortably guard on the perimeter, our defense could be really elite this season.
Adding Lowry, Tucker, Morris, Yurtseven, Garrett, Jarreau and possibly Oladipo to a core that was already around a top 7 defense last season should easily push us to a top 3 defense minimum.

Yeah I can really see some potential with a guy like Jarreau playing PG alongside Herro eventually off the bench. Both Garrett and Deeky can compliment and make up for Herro's deficiencies and vice versa. Also like that their building chemistry early with Yurtseven who could also earn some playing time sooner rather than later.
