People want an alpha from the 4th pick, not a guy who likes to blend in. His game currently screams role player but that doesn't mean he can't take it to the next level. You watch Green/Suggs/Cade, you cant say that about them even when they're struggling.
All 3 of those guys were drafted with the expectation to have them be given the keys to the offense from day 1. Barnes isn’t being handed the keys right now so obviously those guys will be an alpha right now
Pretty sure Barnes is gonna be developed with patience. Will help him pan out that way too as he gets to learn from other guys who had the same experience
If we had something as ridiculous as advanced stats for Summer League, I would love to see the USG% of those 3 mentioned vs Barnes, I can almost guarantee that theirs is significantly higher.

Don't know what the motivation is but I did feel Barnes was pulled awful early in first quarter last 2 games.

ya but at least the G-league has structure. It's not 2 passes and a guard taking the first half decent look they get. There's some semblance of an offensive system

Best part of the night was when they were interviewing Nurse and Sam Mitchell asks him about all their versatility and how they can play 2 guards and 3 forwards and Nurse was like, more like 5 forwards.
We are going to see Precious, Boucher, Siakam, OG and Barnes out there at some point and it's going to be glorious win or lose

Replace Barnes with Banton and you’ve nailed it. Jk

Bro i dont know what Green you were watching. Dude's never been a good finisher. He might have some decent numbers as he gets a lot of open ones off of Curry's gravity, but he never goes up against the defense and bricks it when he does.
And OG scored 16ppg this year just being able to shoot well, and you think Barnes maxes out at 12ppg? Im not even sure how you can say he never cracks 20ppg. If he develops his shot, he can get to 20ppg just being able to pick up opportunistic points and hitting open 3's.
I wish i had your Optimism ....Lol its not easy to score 20PPG in the NBA Man ....Infact there are very select few that ever do in their NBA Careers...There are G-leaguers who have more offensive bag than Barnes does atm does that mean they can come in and Score 20 PPG in the NBA? No...So what makes you think a raw af player like Barnes will easy? Barns is as raw as it gets on the offensive end...I will take a 12PPG-15PPG for Barnes with how bad his offense has looked...
People have way too high expectations and will be really disappointed
You dont need much in the bag tho to be a big scorer. If youre playing minutes and youre touching the ball enough, you'll get points, especially if you work on your shot. Like i said, OG scored 16ppg while almost never creating for himself. Barnes jumpshot needs to go the way of OG's tho
Barnes atm is not even close to OG in terms of being an offensive player....OG is one of the more efficient 3 point shooters in the NBA ....OG Also has better movement and is more athletic than Barnes is ....ofc hes 4 years older than Barnes is but Its going to take alot of work for Barnes to get to even OG level of offense so to say he will get to 20PPG easy is a little early to say especially he can't even average 15 in Summer league

So many other players we need to see to figure out who we need to drop.

Does he know what to do with that advantage yet? Not at all. But like Sam Mitchell was saying during the game, most guys in the league don’t have the attributes to move the defence. I don’t worry about Barnes’ offensive ability, I worry about his passivity. He seems content to fade into the background at times which is challenging to see when he’s able to make good things happen almost every time he puts the ball on the floor from the perimeter.
Not really. I think he's observing how things are occurring on the court as he prepares the software for a beta update for installation before the regular season starts. I think part of the development process has him coming off the court relatively early in the first quarter and observing from the bench and being able to compare notes with the coaching staff. Development is for skills AND bbiq.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

Kuminga and Suggs both top 10 in USG%, Cade at 17, and waaay down on the list is Scottie at 64. Behind the likes of Jaden Springer and Shariffe Cooper.

but his PER is second on the team after Precious and has a better defensive rating than Flynn, Precious, David Johnson, Morgan, Wainright and Adams.
he obv has an effect when he's on the floor in a positive way.
Raptors definitely letting him develop at his own speed and not rushing it in anyways.

Re: Summer League Thread Part 4: Tonight Rockets @ 8pm TSN4
Clearly. Barnes (13 PPG) has 33 FGA and 20 FTA so far, Cade (16 PPG) has 35 FGA (0 FTA) in one less game, Green (20 PPG) has 37 FGA and 14 FTA in 15 less minutes and Suggs (15) has 41 FGA and 9 FTA in 20 less minutes. These other top picks (Cade, Green and Suggs) have the ball in their hands much more than Barnes and they're actually getting "plays" ran for them. The thing with Barnes too is I'd say almost half of his attempts have come off of offensive rebounds or broken plays. He's being utilized as somewhat of a garbage man the last two nights (which annoys the heck out of me) after he was given tons of freedom in the first game, but at least he is creating his own offence and got to the line 16 times.Reeko wrote:PrinceAli wrote:Tor_Raps wrote:
