In Weaver I trust, but man. Hard not to feel like a missed opportunity. In the end Cade is all that matters.
Until we find out what ends up from the Plumlee trade we really can’t judge.
Charlotte killed it though by getting Plumlee and JT Thor. And overall they had a great draft.
I would’ve liked Thor at 37, Petrusev at 42, Bassey at 52.

Re: 2021 Draft Night Thread
The Livers pick and UDFA Smith signings, with both missing the combine and workouts with injuries, seem to fit Weaver's style of finding players that may be undervalued in the short run. Nice cheap potential building blocks for the rotation in years to come.
I wonder if Garza's groin strain that kept him from playing in scrimmages at the combine masked how much he's developing within his new 30lb lighter body. He was quoted as saying he had a great workout with the Pistons. Expectation for him in terms of foot speed and defense are so low he may surprise us.
Fend off the "WIN NOW!" voices and keep mining for those diamonds Troy! Plenty of time before 2023, when deep playoff runs become the new Pistons tradition.

I’m not trying to overreact seeing as how most of these highlights look like high school gyms but this guy looks really smooth.
Shooting is horrid though.

Impressive athleticism. Clearly looks like he has long arms. Looks strong and very capable on defense. Good passing instincts. And, yeah, absolutely terrible shooting. Maybe they see a Lu Dortz developmental type guy?

Re: 2021 Draft Night Thread
yeah Tarke needs to rebuild his entire shot but looks like has very good size/athleticism, great motor and passable court vision.
it's just a camp deal so the pistons haven't committed anything to him but his defense is intriguing. i know the conference he played in was pretty much one step above D2 but he won both conference POY and DPOY, averaging 16/8/4 with 2.6 SPG and 1.9 BPG.

Where is Onu gonna get his shot? He’s intriguing.

Re: 2021 Draft Night Thread
After stepping back and thinking about it, I really liked what Weaver did with the draft.
Going in I was hoping for a switchable 4 that can shoot and an eventual developmental replacement of Plumlee. I think he did that.
Livers is a really good spot up catch and shoot 3 point shooter which we really needed at the 4 spot. He’s a solid defender that can switch 1-4. Check
Garza, with how poor he is on defense, is a monster offensively. If he can somehow figure out defensive angles and rotate, he could stay on the court.
Koprivica is basically Plumlee 2.0 if he could develop into that eventually that’s amazing value. Check
Trading Plumlee now rather than during the season speeds things up, but I like it. If Livers shows out Sekou is replaced.
So pretty much what I wanted. And no guards lol. Hopefully it works out. In Weaver I trust.

I know a bunch of people wanted Cooper in the 2nd me included when he fell. I have a feeling thats going to be the big miss we look back on and go "cant believe we passed him". I know its just a few summer league games but watching him now and seeing what hes done hes a baller.

I semi understand not drafting a 12th young PG because maybe they just waste away, but it did feel like he was too good to pass up there.
