Lavine gets disqualified on the defense end, unless you think he'd be better in our system (and I guess he isn't white?). Who else might qualify?

man, maybe we've already cornered the market. https://www.ranker.com/list/top-white-nba-players-right-now-2018-2019/adam-mackenzie-stewart
Unless Franz Wagner qualifies as athletic.

Caruso is the other one. However, I think we just like bouncy guards that can defend and shoot a little.

I thought of Caruso. He's an excellent defender, but I didn't know if he was particularly athletic. I looked at a writeup before his draft and they did mention his athleticism, though he doesn't have the vertical of our 3 guys.

Tucker never dribbled the ball or initiated the offense. If Thanasis could follow that pattern and cut down on his turnovers, he has a place in the rotation.

As the 11-12th guy on the roster, sure. We can't seem to draft rotation players, so we might as well sign him.

Haven't heard. However, he received a player option on year 2, which, IIRC, isn't allowed in year 2 of an Early Bird deal.

It wouldn't be the first time the bucks contract offer was against (or ignorant of) the rules.

Glad he’s back. I think he’s very valuable to Giannis mentally and helped Giannis stay calm in the playoffs. In addition, he’s a good dude, who truly plays hard, and his energy and hustle is infectious.

Thanasis has worked his way into being a perfectly acceptable bench dude. He can give some ok minutes every once in a while and he seems like an amazing teammate who probably practices like a madman. The closer to the minimum the better but I'm glad he's back.

How important was bringing him back really? Would be cool if he was a legitimate hope of sticking to the rotation instead of whatever the hell he currently is.

Jared Dudley, Deandre Jordan, Udonis Haslem have roles as being veteran mentors and good locker room presences. Thanasis is currently better than all of them at basketball and can play 10-12 mins in the regular season while being an example to younger players of how hard you are supposed to play. There is nothing wrong with having 1 guy like this. Imo, he has value (although it is very marginal).

I think there may be some reverse bias. People are harder on Thanasis because he is Giannis' brother than they would be if he was Jim Smith. Kind of like the coach that is harder on his kid than the other kids. I think we would be very happy to sign him for the energy plays and enthusiasm he brings. Now add in that he is a great influence on Giannis and we should be thrilled. I am happy we signed him.

Thanasis is the anti-Nwora. Seeing as I am currently on an anti-Nwora campaign, I approve of this signing.

Amazing how in two games he disabused us of any notions we had of him contributing.

I was bullish, now I think his play was bulls***

Kostas is in France. Thanasis was playing in Greece. Alex won't be much better. I think he goes back to Spain. This is their level but if Giannis wants one of them close to him, you make it happen, no buts about it.

Outside of being a good locker room presence he's not offering anything. If he was good enough for 10-12 minutes a night we wouldn't be having this discussion and it's honestly a shame that's he's not because his body type would help a lot. It's definitely fine to have a player like him on the roster but you also can't have 3-5 other guys who the coaches don't really want to play either.

Underrated receiver for years. Both him and Keenan McCardell.

Fun fact: Bucks Roster has now more Greek players than most teams in the Greek Basketball League. :D :P

I think Giannis won't make it so easy for his younger brothers. He probably told them to work hard and try to make a career for them selves. With Thanasis it's different. He did all the hard work and helped Giannis a lot as his big brother.

Very happy to have Thanasis back. There aren't 15 players better than him in the squad, he fills our thinnest position and he makes Giannis better. **** bargain.

Love the signing. I think as 15th guys on rosters go, Thanasis takes the MVP. I’d rather have a guy like him than one of those players “who can really shoot the ball” but never get off the bench ‘cause they’re so terrible at everything else.
He goes hard in practice, he’s probably a great 1v1 training partner for Giannis, he cheers for the team non stop and occasionally he goes in and dunks on people. I think to an extent he can cover a reduced PJ type role given the chance.
If Mark Madsen spent time in the NBA, there’s no reason for Thanasis not to.
