What do you think, I think they are overrating the Mavs, I would've put the cut off around 44.5 or 43.4
According to Vegas this is good for 4th place tie with the Warriors.

48 and under seems like a good bet.

On a side note, can Cuban make a ton of money if Vegas Bobs bets on under 48.5 on his behalf and he knows what the team is capable of?

They essentially won 48 last year. The West is maybe slightly better overall, but so are the Mavs. They're less likely to be hit by covid. So I would probably go for the over at 50 wins. But who knows with injuries.

Re: Vegas projects 48.5 wins for Mavs
Line is about right.
This team was very, very good in the regular season despite KPs poor defense and being hit worse than anybody (bar maybe Miami) with Covid issues.
The team has gotten better (we can argue by how much, but it's better) and if KP is healthy and finds that half step that allows him to protect the rim then we are very much improved.
The issue is coaching.
With Carlisle I'd 100% take the over. But with Kidd I'm going to put some cash on the under.

That’s about where I expect the Mavs to fall. I was thinking between 45-50 wins and anywhere between 4th and 6th seed. I’m not convinced the West got tougher. I expect the Suns and Jazz to come back down to Earth a little bit. The Lakers will likely get the top seed and then the Mavs, Jazz, Nuggets, and Suns will battle it out seeds 2-5.

Yeah this is about right based off the current roster and the play of KP last year.

It seems about right. A lot depends on whether KP can play better on defense than last season and if he can stay on the court.

Deoends how long it takes for players to learn kidds ideas. On the other hand we are run by luka, so shouldnt matter that much. Also got powell and KP from start of season, and not losing 4 starters in covid for weeks at same time should help. And luka is in revenge mode. Yeah, I would bet above that. Pretty sure 50 is minimum wins this year

Re: Vegas projects 48.5 wins for Mavs
Depends on how healthy everyone is come play offs. I can see us getting to 50 plus
We have 2 young stars that should both improve. Luka should be good from 3 all season and not just the second half like he was last season.
No covid issues equals more wins
KP is back to business this year and should defend well at the rim.
If Reggie is a hit with his shooting then we are improved by making that move and getting rid of JRich.
Can DFS take his game further and improve it again?
THJ is able to get hot and sort of dominate on offense so if DFS RB and THJ can all elevate to play well when luka is off the floor resting I will be happy since the offense will not go stagnant like it did in the playoffs last season.
A much better big next to KP is still needed and we really need to improve rebounding a lot. Teams like LA are able to bully ball it better with their bigs so we need to get some more muscle that is younger and on Luka's timeline.
They have 2 real centers to pair with Davis why do we not try to imrove on having WCS Klebel and Boban? If Brown and Powell are gone I have mixed emotions yeah Powell gone is a good thing but Brown never getting to get to show what he has is upsetting.
If Dragic comes here as is mentioned what happens to Brunsons game if he is benched more? Brown Bullock DFS and THJ give you depth enough at the wings so why would they want to play Dragic or Brunsons that much with Luka?
Center with KP is a recipe for injury issues and a better strategy is to use him as a PF next to a real 5.

Re: Vegas projects 48.5 wins for Mavs
KP cant play PF thats why he play center. Its like saying boban at pg would be awesome cause no pg could defend him. A bit exaggerated but u get the point. KP is pure stretch 5, more or less. Wouldnt mind getting a 2nd pf in tho, preferably good enoigh to push kleber to the bench, but pf market is ****

Re: Vegas projects 48.5 wins for Mavs
Mavs were on pace to win 47.8 games last year. They're essentially bringing back the same team just with Reggie Bullock in the place of Josh Richardson, and we have the sleeper Moses Brown as an extra big.
The line seems right to me. If Luka misses any significant time or if there's a lot of chemistry issues with KP wanting out, then I could see them winning less. I guess if guys struggle with a new system under Kidd, then that could cost them a few games too.
On the brightside, they likely won't have the worst Covid luck in the league. Bullock can't play any worse than Josh Richardson did last year. Moses Brown could be a big difference on the boards. Josh Green could develop. Luka might be even better in Kidd's offense, and they still have cap room to add a player at the trade deadline. They could win 55+ games. I think any team with Luka should win 50 games or more as long as he stays healthy. He's just that good.
