Anybody who thinks Barnes isn't ready to play in the NBA just doesn't understand the game and instantly is a casual in my opinion.

His offence isn't ready. He'll step in off the bench as a defender and keep the ball moving as a rookie. That's not a casual take.

Barnes perceived ceiling is VERY high though. That was central to the justification of him over Suggs. Yes, pretty high floor too as high-level role player but his floor/NBA-readiness not as high as Suggs.

But you take a player who's great on-ball defensively, off-ball defensively + transition D, is an absolute freight train in transition O (can pass or finish and projects as an elite transition talent) and can at least pass/be a connector on offense in the half-court. Has a very good handle for his size. If the shot can develop that will open up passing lanes for him, teams will have to close out on him, which means he'll have driving lanes too with his good handle.... he could be scary good in 3-4 years.

He plays a very team-oriented game. You give him sh*tty teammates a lot of his good plays are gonna go to waste (see: Gillespie, Freddie). Judging him off of SL is stupid.

Did you not watch him in NCAA? He was terrible offensively against much worse players than this. There was no reason to think he’d do anything at this level right now.

Oh so then you should know better. If youve been watching summer league that long you’d know that it’s always best for scoring guards and specific archetypes. Plenty non guards don’t do well in summer league but have great careers

At this point Scottie's only scoring is wide open dunks. HIs drives are slow and predictable and seems to always get stuck shooting from the awkward 5-8 foot range.

He has no offensive game whatsoever.
