Jays Vs Yankees

Post#1 » by arrpy » Thu Sep 20, 2007 10:08 am

Fri., September 21 @ 7:05 p.m. ET
Game 1

Halladay
15-7, 3.82

Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: Halladay allowed just one run over seven innings in his last outing against the Orioles. He allowed five hits while striking out two en route to his first win since Aug. 14. Halladay is 1-2 with a 3.26 ERA in his past six starts. He is 10-4 with a 3.10 ERA in 25 career outings against the Yankees.

Wang
18-7, 3.82

Scouting Report:
Yankees: Wang lost his battle with fellow Cy Young Award contender Josh Beckett last week in Boston, lasting only 5 2/3 innings and allowing five runs. It was Wang's first stumble since early August, and it followed a string of five straight wins. The Blue Jays are the only team besides the Red Sox to beat Wang twice this season, and they've hit him at a .372 clip while doing it.

It's time to sweep the Yankees now!

Jays win 5-4

Game 3

McGowan
11-9, 3.84

Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: McGowan was dominant yet again in his last outing against the Red Sox. He went the distance, surrendering just one run on five hits while striking out nine. While most of the talk lately surrounding the Jays pitching staff has been about fatigue, McGowan is showing no signs of slowing down. He's thrown eight innings in three of his past four starts and is 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA over that span. McGowan has 17 quality starts this season, all of which have come in his past 22 outings. The 25-year-old is 2-1 with a 4.55 ERA in eight career games against the Yankees.

Vs

Mussina
10-10, 5.01

Scouting Report:
Yankees: Mussina enjoyed his best outing of the year against the Orioles last Tuesday, citing it as one of the few times all season that he's had spotless command of all his pitches. It showed, as Mussina didn't allow a run over seven efficient innings, and in the process cemented his once-tenuous rotation spot. Mussina beat the Blue Jays in his second-to-last start to begin this recent string of success, pitching 5 2/3 innings of shutout, five-hit ball at the Rogers Centre on Sept. 12.

Yankees Win 7-5

Game 4

Litsch
6-9, 3.97

Scouting Report:
Blue Jays: In his last start, Litsch picked up a win over the Red Sox after allowing just one run on two hits over 6 2/3 innings. The rookie regained control of his changeup, which he'd struggled with recently. In his three previous starts, Litsch went 0-3 and had yielded 14 runs in just 11 1/3 innings. The win over Boston was his first victory since Aug. 23.

Vs

Pettitte
14-8, 3.79

Scouting Report:
Yankees: Pettitte , who was bumped up to Monday's start in place of Roger Clemens, needed to be nearly perfect against the Orioles last week and he was, scattering seven singles over 7 2/3 innings and allowing just one run. That effort earned him his 200th career win, not to mention his eighth victory in his last nine decisions. The lone loss in that stretch came against the Devil Rays, though Pettitte beat them twice in a row earlier this summer.

Lets see if we can get 2/4!

Jays win 4-1

I hope we can sweep the Yanks or at least take 3 of 4, just because playing the role of spoiler is so much fun :)

^^ It would be awsome to sweep them or take 3, but really, I don't think it's gonna happen because the Yankees are Red Hot!

Yankees are killing teams despite A-Rod being 1 for his last 18.

Gibbons should have kept Halladay in regardless. He didn't want to come out and he deserves the opportunity to lose the game if he wanted to. We aren't in a wildcard race, live and die with your franchise player.

Gibbons is a hack, along with JP.

Blowing this game would actually be a little impressive from a consistency standpoint. Not every team can do this. And it was a complete team effort too - pitching, fielding, managing. It would probably go down as pretty painful if there was anything yet to play for and if anyone still had expectations for this team. Its still a little painful either way

I don't think pitching is to be held at fault here at all.. those two groundball errors are not pitcher's fault.. our fielding let us down big time when it mattered.. and than gibbons brought in downs against a left handed batter who has a **** .328 avg against left handed pitchers. what the hell was he thinking??

I can't wait for the day where i wake up, turn on the tv and see that Gibbons has been fired.

Hill needs to get slapped around a bit for his piss poor play in the 9th as well. That girly throw was not necessary.

all of Hill's good defensive plays earlier in tonight's game were ruined by hi two poor plays in the 9th... and why was gibbons in so much of a rush to replace his ace?? and whats with Accardo? the guy has suddenly been going downhill.. i fear he might give the game away in the 11th..

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
