We had a solid start with a 30-20 Q lead and Tre looking ever more comfortable leading the team and balancing it with getting his own shot, too. Good to see Primo back.
We're maintaining the lead so far with some good help D, and great ball movement.

Tre's defensive impact off the ball, getting over screens to get to the ball handler and pressure bad passes, staying on the ground not biting for fakes as much. He's running the P&R with patience, and once his floater is more consistent, he's going to be even more lethal.
I love the way he's managing the game. He's a consistent shot away from being an invaluable, hardly a drop off from the starting unit PG.
We need to take care of perimeter D better. We allowed way too many drives inside. We sometimes were able to block the penetrations, but as the 2ND Q wore on the Nets got more layups to trim our lead to five: 53-48 at the half.

Well, fundamentals, or lack of them by us played a part in losing the lead for the first time in the game. The Nets increased their defensive pressure, but with Tre biting on pump fakes, Joe and Tre getting called for O fouls on drives, and nowhere near the level of boxing out that is needed to get stops for second chances, we leaked points all over the place.
There was a momentum shift where we got imposed on and settled for the level of competitiveness we were at throughout the game. We need to up the intensity, protect the ball - at least 5 turnovers in this 3RD Q alone - and make sure we generate D to O points, and good to great shots.

Well there's no sense in playing 'what ifs' after Tre was forced to leave the game after taking an elbow to the face. He was actually down for quite a while and needed help getting up to leave the court.
Primo came in and made a couple of clutch 3s late in the game for a 21-point game but he also shot 8-22. It's what comes with an 18-year-old draftee. The game management, play development, and shot creation drop off when Tre left the game, though, was significant.
We struggled to score in the last three or so minutes and looked very out of sorts in trying. It shows the difference when there's an experienced PG on the floor. And while Primo has unusually high confidence in taking clutch shots, and while he's shown some exceptional flashes - on both ends, like hitting an off the dribble 3 followed by a block - he's also shown flashes of the inexperienced teenager that he is, like over dribbling, not making the right pass, constructing the play.
Joe made some very nice passes and got rebounds on D well as well as hustling to deflect an O board. I can see Pop now, though, calling Joe over during FTs to let him know that he has to take the open shots throughout this season.
A lot of the other Spurs took some open shots we simply missed but that we're taking more 3s is a positive.
104-100 at the end of the 4TH Q.
