I don't see it. Barnes is much more fluid in his moves imo and also has already better scoring ways and moves than Draymond ever had.

I don't think any comparison really fits although Marques Johnson might be the best.

I don't think anything of what you said precludes him being similar to Dray. Like he can be a better version of dray just more fluid and a better scorer.

If you look at them side by side the similarities are pretty obvious.

Beg to differ adding strength comes with added weight. Scottie has elite length and ballhandling skills for his size. Being bigger and stronger than others in his position is advantageous to his development. People get enamored with jumping ability and speed but in the NBA as in any sport skills and size plays a much bigger factor in a layers ability to dominate at their position.

Posted this in the summer league thread, but it might be more appropriate here.

A lot of people compare Barnes to Simmons offensively. I don't necessarily love the comparison, because Simmons' offensive game is extremely limited in the half-court, but I thought it would be interesting to compare their Summer League stats.

Ben Simmons - Summer League Stats (6 Games):
10.8 PPG / 7.7 REB / 5.5 AST / 1.0 STL / 0.5 BLK
.361 FG% / .636 FT% / .000 3P% (0 of 1)

Scottie Barnes - Summer League Sats (4 Games):
15.5 PPG / 6.7 REB / 3.3 AST / 1.0 STL / 2.0 BLK
.412 FG% / .739 FT% / .273 3P% (3 of 11)

No surprises here but Barnes looking like a much better shooter early on, while Simmons looks like the better rebounder / passer.

He's a bit bigger than Johnson, but that is actually an excellent comparison. I think we'd all be happy if Barnes turned into a 5x All Star and 3x All NBA player.

Barnes gets really low in his crouch when he's defending on the perimeter and then boom he's like a giant when gets back upright. Haven't really seen anyone quite like him. None of the comparables really fit.

I can almost guarantee you his mass will increase after some years in the NBA. Without even intentionally bulking up.

You can also build mass without going to the extent of damaging ones mobility.

Even if he stays a consistent 225 for his entire career, no one is upset.

OG in his second summer league
27.3mpg 15.8ppg 6.0rpg 0.8apg 0.5spg 1.2bpg 40.4%

Scottie in his summer league
27.3mpg 15.5ppg 6.8rpg 3.2apg 1.0spg 2.0bpg 41.2%

If OG with playmaking is his floor then I think we will be just fine.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

He will likely be walking around like a Lebron size. 240 seems to make sense for him when he fills out

Is it just sacrilege to bring up the LeBron comp?

The body is trending there for sure.

The handle. A willingness to pass, and a desire to be a playmaker/PG.

He obviously doesn't do anything at the level LeBron does/did, but the body and the archetype is very Bron-esque.

I see that (or Simmons) more than Kawhi and Giannis.

Since we’re looking for comparison, I actually think there’s another one:

Lamar Odom x Bigger Andre Iguodala.

On offense, a playmaking forward who can rebound and run the floor. On defense, a physical mismatch who can guard almost anyone.

It’s likely that Barnes body type will exceed 240lbs as he fills in. We got a good one guys. The only thing holding him back is his aggressiveness.

We need to give him 2 off-seasons to get fully comfortable. He’s a loud mouth who is constantly talking, and once he settles in to the league, he’s potentially going to be better than Anunoby on defense. That’s saying a lot.

OG’s defence isn’t anyone’s floor, though. His mix of brains and physical ability is pretty special.

Coach Thorpe mentioned this comp during an interview but it didn’t seem to get much traction!

Scottie Pippen: 6’8” with a 7’3” wingspan
Scottie Barnes: 6’8” with a 7’3.5” wingspan

Pippen blended playmaking, decent scoring and top flight D!

SUMMARY
Career - G 1178, PTS 16.1, TRB 6.4, AST 5.2, FG% 47.3, FG3% 32.6, FT% 70.4, eFG% 50.4, PER 18.6, WS 125.1
