poll: Jānis Timma
Orlando looks to have a fairly flushed-out roster. There are 14 players under contract and one TW-player signed.
Suggs/Anthony/Fultz(IR)
Harris/Hampton/Brazdeikis(2W)
Isaac/Ross/Carter-Williams
Okeke/Wagner-F/Wagner-M
Carter/Bamba/Lopez
That leaves one roster slot and one 2W slot. And a need for a forward.
Has Jānis Timma earned a roster slot, and if yes, is it a regular or 2W contract?

The TImma's might be the most photogenic couple for Orlando, ever:

She gets the max…
But seriously.. Weltman and Hammond won’t do the obvious thing to sign him. They’ll instead sign Brazdeikis or bring up some scrub from Lakeland halfway through the season.

He's a fun story, but he's just a guy.
I'd imagine he can also make more in Europe than what an NBA two-way contract would pay.

You guys got a weird fetish for old scrubs. If we are signing a scrub vet it better be someone who played in NBA already.

He's almost 30?
Better lock him up long term guys, otherwise LBJ and the LAL are just waiting to pounce.

Unlikely he'd sign a two-way as it was only a few years ago when he cited lack of playing time for not wanting to come here.... wouldn't make sense for us either. He might just be using summer league and the threat of joining the nba to leverage a better contract in europe.

Eh TImma had one good game the rest he's been meh. He just looks cool and seems like a cool dude so that would be nice but otherwise.. don't think it's an "obvious" thing.

Yeah, just bring someone up from Lakeland for spot minutes who cares. I originally voted “nothing”. It’s like asking who the front office will take with next years 2nd round picks.

Since we will lose, let's at least make it entertaining. Sign Janis to liven things up. We need some swag.

Hes played better in the earlier games.
He is a fun guy to root for and I like the memes but we aren't going to sign him.

I think that Timma planned vacations in US and just decided he'll play some basketball during summer

Re: poll: Jānis Timma
I don’t think his on the court play in SL is deserving of a deal, but he seems like a great teammate/vet to have around. Wouldn’t be mad at it if we signed him.

Want him more than Cole Anthony. Plays hard, plays unselfish, and is a big body enforcer that we lack.
Jett Howard, Franz Wagner, Paolo Banchero, Jonathan Isaac, Wendell Carter Jr
Anthony Black, Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, Joe Ingles, Chuma Okeke, Mo Wagner, Goga Bitadze LESSSGOOO!!!

I understood why Anthony was selected when he was, but now that the team has Hampton and Suggs, I would be very happy with a "draft reset" where he was traded for someone like Saddiq Bey. Such a trade balances the roster, and provides roster support for Detroit.
Add Timma on a 2W, and the Magic is:
Suggs/Carter-Williams/Fultz(IR)
Harris/Hampton/Brazdeikis(TW)
Isaac/Ross/Wagner-F/Timma(TW)
Okeke/Bey/Wagner-M
Carter/Bamba/Lopez
That roster is more balanced and is an interesting core for an attempt to have a competitive 2022/23 team assembled.
Suggs/Hampton
Fultz/Ross
Isaac/Wagner-F
Okeke/Bey/Wagner-M
Carter/Bamba
Plus a probable mid-lottery rookie - with a perhaps further developed Brazdeikis and team mascot Timma; I like that 2022/23 team!

Re: poll: Jānis Timma
I think we're allowing Timma to talk to NBA teams with a view to facilitating him coming over but not playing for us.
He doesn't fit our timeline but could help the Warriors, Lakers etc. Our FO likes to help the players and if you can turn the draft rights of someone nobody expected to come over into an asset (however small) it's a win for all parties.
