Man, you'd never see ME settling for 92, what with 100 being so clearly on the horizon.

Literally. You'd never see me settling for 92. Or 82. Or 72, or 62, 52, 42....

22, maybe.
That's a lot of buckets folks.

 I scored 32 twice and I didn't want to come out. PP is like a different player right now. Confidence through the roof and it's showing. Can't wait to see him this season. Truly hope this season is a revenge tour with all those horrible losses last year. Roll it!

Ive always been a little more of a pass first point guard, but I've never got to 30 in a proper game.
Hit 6 three's a bunch of times...that as close to 'en fuego' as I've ever managed.

 we didn't have 3s in the 80s but I didn't really "dish" either. Lot of 16 footers, dribble drives, coast to coast rebounding and FTs. Just another high school black hole.

Heh!

Child of the nineties...shot more pull ups than anything when playing at my level, but I was lucky enough to play off the bench at a higher level than my talent should have allowed.
Play hard defence and use my fouls to stop guys getting in rhythym.
Feed the post.
Use my three to space the floor.
Cheer loud when I was on the bench.
Get used to my minutes fluctuating a LOT.

I still play a couple of times a week (over 30s domestic), and that pull up jumper has gone. Just don't have the brakes to drive and pull up sharp. So I shoot more threes than I'd like. And I kinda try that Gordon Hayward thing...drive into the lane, stop, pivot and shoot a fadeaway. Not too much though...once a game maybe.

As a player, I make a better coach these days...lol

Cool. I was first off the bench as a sophomore and as a guard. We usually played zone and like you played hard and tried to be disruptive. My game was the turnaround jumper. We had a wall in the driveway and I'd bounce the ball off the wall and practiced my post game. Loved using the backboard to soften the touch. I had a lousy handle but I practiced my one step dribble drive and dribbling hard to the basket from way out.

Too bad Pritchard isn’t playing. Pritchard against Donovan “off night” Mitchell would have been fun to watch.

Seeing a lot of people say he's a 2/3 but I look at him as way more of a 4. What do you think?

Never thought of him as a 4 because he posted a pretty low rebounding % last season in France. To be a 4 in the NBA you're ideally at an 11% rebounding rate...definitely gotta be at least 10%. Begarin wasn't close to that. Meanwhile Begarin was bringing the ball up a decent amount in France and at the G-league elite camp and also has posted a good assist rate which leads me to believe he's closer to a 1 than a 4.

And this video they say he's the French Russell Westbrook:

So yeah, I think he might look more like a 4 only cause he has put some weight on recently. Some sites list him at 192 lbs but at the g-league elite camp in July he came in at 214 lbs. So I think during this past season he put on 22 lbs. The russell westbrook comparison video was definitely before he gained the 22 lbs.

So I think if he can slim back down, he'll look more likely a wing than a 4.. I mean, look how fast he looks in the video here. I am hoping he gets to about 195-200 lbs which could be a happy medium where he loses enough weight to get hat speed back, but also keeps enough weight to have some strength.

He looks like a completely different player in that video! Kid has really put on some weight. He also looks a hell of a lot slower nowadays. Both reasons why I considered him at the 4. Idk where he'll end up, still really young, I suppose we'll see but if he can't regain that quickness, he just looks too damn slow to me to be a 1-3. Not to mention his length is perfect for the 4.

I agree that he looks much faster in the video. Hopefully once he's into an NBA-caliber strength and conditioning program he can slim down and regain the speed. I mean, the video is only from 2 years ago.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Interesting article from theathletic about 2nd year players in SL...Vecenie picked 10 guys that impressed the most...

Immanuel Quickley, Payton Pritchard lead the 2021 Too Good For Summer League Team

G: Payton Pritchard, Celtics (captain)
Honestly, ranking Pritchard at No. 37 on my 2020 NBA Draft Board is one of the dumber things I’ve done logically in a while. I loved Pritchard in college. I have a Naismith Award vote and voted him as a clear finalist. He would have been my second-place vote if the ballot was a ranked-choice ballot. Simply put, he’s just gotten so much better each of the last three years, and it was obvious then that Pritchard was going to be an effective offensive NBA player. I let the worries I have about him defensively override what I knew what true about him offensively. Even if I do think the defensive concerns are still justified, that was just silly. He’s clearly going to be worthy of the first-round pick the Celtics used on him, and he has a chance to exceed that by a pretty sizable margin if his play continues.

Pritchard was the most effective player I saw at summer league this year, which shouldn’t come as a total surprise given that he’s coming off of a season where he deservedly earned votes for the All-Rookie team. There was never a moment where he was hurried or rushed. His poise stood out to the utmost degree to the point that he almost looked bored while also trying to make dudes look ridiculous trying to defend his step-back game.

Three things really stood out. First, the range. Pritchard looked extremely comfortable shooting not just behind the NBA line, but shooting over five feet behind the NBA line. Any team that went under a ball-screen that got set even 30 feet away from the basket got punished. But honestly, we kind of knew he could do that. The improvements came in two places. Pritchard’s handle has taken another step forward. There’s another level of suddenness off the bounce. He uses deceleration well, then explodes into each move. On top of that, he can creatively string together multiple change-of-direction moves at full-speed now while maintaining total control.

More than that, though, there was not a more comfortable passer at summer league. Pritchard’s decision-making has long been terrific, but it was even better this summer. He posted an absurd 8.7 assists to 1.3 turnovers per in his three games. His live-dribble passing took a step forward, particularly with one hand. Having long been more of a jump-stop passer, Pritchard threw a couple of impressive one-handed live dribble looks with confidence that make me think he can run the show as a starting guard at some point for this Celtics core.

Everything about this was exactly the kind of performance you expect to see from a guy when you’re counting on him to take a leap the following season. And indeed, even with the Dennis Schröder signing, the Celtics need Pritchard to be useful this year, at the very least off the bench. They need secondary creation next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown from the backcourt. It’s easy to feel way better about that coming from Pritchard following a standout summer league performance.

Other Starters: Quickley, Maxey, Bane, Toppin

Among 5 reserves:
W: Aaron Nesmith, Celtics
Nesmith largely has played the same role he’ll be asked to with the Celtics as opposed to the expanded role that another floor spacer above, Bane, was asked to play. However, it’s the little expansions of Nesmith’s game that have been most promising. More shots off of relocation dribbles as opposed to just hoisting contested catch-and-shoot 3s. Some little floaters and drives into the lane attacking closeouts. The former Vanderbilt wing will always be at his best keeping things simple and being a catch-and-shoot gunner, if only because he’s a terrific shooter from distance. But he needs those little counters in order to best take advantage of that shooting talent.

Nesmith averaged about 19 points per game, and looks pretty ready to be a rotational wing next year for the Celtics. He averaged about 10 points per game in his final 10 regular-season games for the Celtics this past year, and I think I’d anticipate him doing something like that again for them, acting as a floor spacer for Tatum and Brown.

If Mazzula doesn’t let PP play, I’m rioting. I mean crying. I mean watching highlights of his SL Steve Nash point guard skills.

Pretty sure he is, but got the impression coach may not play him having had missed practice.
