That's hyperbole as well. Unless you consider 8.9ppg in EuroLeague to be "highly productive".

I don't.

But yes I do agree in that I don't see legitimate development pathways for Thanasis to be more than he is. A locker room hype up guy and keeping lil bro happy is fine to have around.

Well, I'm not just picking and choosing the 10 game sample while ignoring the other 44 games he played with that team where in total he averaged 14.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1 steal on 57/46/75. That's not hyperbole. That is highly productive.

Selectively choosing the strongest league is pretty relevant to measuring production and quality prior to stepping up to NBA imo.

What's your source on those stats? As far as I can see the only time he averaged 14.9ppg was a 12 game sample from the Euro Cup.

What about his game vs NYK with heavy minutes?

what about Brandon Jennings first two weeks of his career?

Bit backwards considering it's not the beginning of Thanasis time in the league but okay.

I mean you're singling out a single game sample and using that as an indicator of something?

I bet all guys on a NBA roster are capable of great games. Thanasis is fine as a end of the bench guy I like him a lot too and he does have flashes here and there. He's also 29 and wouldn't be on a roster if he wasn't Giannis brother. That's the long and short of it. Could he potentially defy the odds and become a rotation player in his 30's? I'd be more than willing to eat crow on that one.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Idk how exactly we are defining “rotation player” but if Thanasis can be an effective 3rd string PF behind the MVP + Semi (with Portis also filling in at both big spots) that seems fine for an end of the bench guy.

Doesn't help that Semi is also an end of bench guy though.

hes a standard try hard defender sent in there to be a bit of a goon. being able to muck it up and piss people off at all 5 positions is a nice little thing to have.

he also throws down foolish looking garbage time dunks and is the first off the bench for timeouts to congratulate everybody not just his brother.

he has a great role on this team.

I think hoping he develops into PJ Tucker might be a bit too much. But a 7th/8th man? I think that is reasonable.
still learning the game

One of the reasons Giannis had the best playoffs of his life was having Thanasis with him. Those two went through difficult things in life together, things more difficult than basketball, I'm sure nothing scares them when they have each other. The value to the Bucks is unquestionable in my mind. Thanasis could be a rotation player on an average NBA team, or a starter in Euroleague. Make no mistake this is a sacrifice for him, same as Bobby sacrificed money, same as Brook sacrifices touches every time he's just standing in the corner instead of being a focal point like when Giannis went down in the Atlanta series. Sacrifices need to add up if you want to win a championship, and I'm glad we have the kind of men on the team who are willing to make them. But we should also see them and appreciate them as fans. Bucks are going for it again, not just the owners but the players are buying into it as well. You love to see it :)

MKE: Ty Jerome, Kenrich Williams
OKC: Jordan Nwora, Mamadi Diakite, '24 MKE 2nd, IND '25 2nd

Bucks add two rotation level players while the Thunder get two younger projects and two picks for dudes they likely aren't planning on extending.

Waive/demote Bryant or include him in the trade if OKC likes him.

Holiday / Hill / Jerome / Bryant (2W)
(DiVincenzo) / Allen / Hood
Middleton / Connaughton / Kalaitzakis
Giannis / Williams / Ojeleye
Lopez / Portis / Thanasis / Mamu (2W)

Adding another ballhandler in Jerome and maniac superstar role player in Kenny Hustle is more valuable than Nwora's one-way contributions, IMO. Would also be way cooler having Hartenstein on the active with Georgie K on a two-way.

I also assume no Euro game this year? How cool would a Giannis Athens game or a Luka Ljubljana game?

Games we know so far are:
Brk vs LAL
Dal vs Uta
NYK vs Atl

Other 4 teams should be one of the following: Mil, GSW, Phx, Mia (Den, Phi, Bos are others)

I'm guessing it will be Mia @ Mil

No Xmas game is ok since the Packers have an Xmas afternoon game.
