Nice to see a national reporter recognize Vanderbilt’s talents.

I'd prefer to keep Vando name in secret before we re-sign him :)

Let’s assume we run our roster back and are able to retain our RFAs… We still need a big to replace Ed Davis. I know we brought in Nathan Knight, but I have to imagine we are targeting a vet big, preferably a center. We can’t go into the season with 3 centers who play more like PFs.

Which free agent centers are left on the market?

Towns, Reid and Vanderbilt with Knight is probably enough. Then Prince, McDaniels will get minutes at the 4. This is ignoring Juancho and Layman.

I think we target value should we have a spot and that is why you hear names like Hart.

I still see a small move or two to balance the roster to try and move a wing to clear a spot for Bol, but that could be stretching Layman for all I know.

This guy will fix our interior d and reb issues. Move towns to PF. It doesn't really matter. I think Biyombo can play 4 on defense.

I don't think there's any chance we use a roster spot on him.

we need a physical intimidator..biyomobo is the best remaining defensive big available.

Not sold on him being the best or that it is the need we would first target or that we would fill all our roster spots if one were open. We will have to see what happens if anything in terms of small moves, but I think if we went after a big it sure wouldn't be Biyombo.

Really starting to think we will pretty much run it back unless we can jump in on some big three-team deal or something. We are likely going to play the season out with the roster we have. I personally would really like to see a couple of vets added to the mix but there is a chance we could improve a lot of we are healthy and KAT/DLO/Ant take some leaps.

1. Why not Biyombo?

2. Who are you thinking we’ll go after?

If past is prologue; they leave the spot open if they have one. But it seems Bol is getting a spot...so probably him as things stand.

Regardless I don't think they are looking at marginal retreads, they would be looking for value, upside, a player on a bargain or someone who might have trade value. Biyombo just isn't that good, doesn't have upside, doesn't have trade value, wouldn't outproduce even a minimum contract. There are several players out there.

The most realistic situation would probably be to again try and move some of Culver, Juancho, Okogie and Layman and maybe open up a spot or two, then keep an eye on the waiver market, PG could also be a target if we don't sign JMac and DSJ has been linked to us being interested in possible trades. Anyways, who knows, lots of players out there, more on their way. I don't see us even considering Biyombo.

A few names might be Wilson, Johnson, Heartenstein Martin, Bonga, Jackson...But who knows who gets cut? We have scouting, hopefully they are on top of things.

Yeah the thing...if you sign both rfa's & Bolmaro...your technically full. If you have room still below the lux....you could sign another guy & then just potentially buy an expiring out? Or your looking at something like the 2 for 1 Ed Davis type of deal to get a roster spot back...that won't excite anyone?

Minnesota needs to bring in Paul Millsap, the Power-Forward position is dire.

Wolves would probably have to give him multi-year MLE $$ so he wouldn't go minimum contract ring chase?

I've been starting to wonder if the Wolves could take a flier on DeMarcus Cousins. He's another year removed from his last major injury and he has legitimate NBA size (something the Wolves desperately need). Promise him decent minutes and maybe he'd give the Wolves a chance with the hope he could rehab his value. He and Millsap are the only bigs still available that would have any real chance of actually helping the Wolves.

I agree, and I just mentioned him in the Beverley thread! I heard Millsap hasn’t signed because all he has been able to get are minimum offers. If we could offer him minutes and a leadership position on this team, I don’t think we’d have to offer the MLE up at $9.5. Maybe $4, $4.5, and the second season only partially guaranteed?

Pass on any money next year on a player like him.

The minimum salary for a player like Millsap would pay him about $2.7 mil.

Would $4 get him to choose MIN? Or would it need to be more? We aren’t a true contender, and he’s made plenty in his life, but reports are that he feels he deserves better offers than the min.

I kind of expect the Wolves to dump Layman using one of their 2022 2nds. If they could do that, they would have around $11M to sign Vanderbilt, a vet big (Millsap or Cousins), and a minimum guy.

I agree with all the folks who are saying this team needs Paul Millsap. Provides that last bit of veteran presence we want and helps shore up the PF position. Would love to see it happen for a 1-year deal worth around $4M-$5M or so.
