Man, Book is money on those corner 3s and catch and shoots in general. Need to utilize him more with a bit of that in situations.

Book getting the defensive assignments and even though he's picked up a bunch of fouls, he's taken a couple of charges too and had some hustle plays. Filled his role even though his shot has been off. Bet his body is looking forward to some rest.

Great for him to get more experience in big games.

Went 0-4 and 4 fouls in the final so he is getting real time feedback about his game when it matters.

https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-devin-booker-shocking-injury-from-nba-finals-revealed/
“People didn’t know that Book [Devin Booker] was dealing with a hamstring deal in Game 3 and he got all kinds of flak for what he couldn’t do,” Williams said. “What people didn’t understand is he was basically playing out there on one leg. Those guys, because they are tough and never want to rely on excuses, would never say anything.

“That part bothered me because I heard all the stuff that was said about Devin and Chris [Paul] in the Finals.”

Not surprising that he was injured in game 3 when he played like hot garbage, it makes it all impressive he scored 40+ games in game 4 & 5.

Not super happy Monty let that out in the interview. I don't think it served any purpose but could be taken an excise. I wouldn't be surprised if Book didn't necessarily want that out their either. I just don't think putting that out there was good for anything other than inadvertently drumming up the excuse narrative among the media/opposing fans.

I would like to know the truth, no idea what's wrong in revealing it. Suns players suffered thru injuries on their own, but other fanbases would not recognize it and give enough credit to the team for making the finals.

What's the difference other than giving an excuse/reason? Everyone has bad games, everyone is a little banged up to some degree. He had a bad game. Book ain't gonna excuse himself for it and the injury coming to light doesn't change the result other than perhaps the narrative. But really, how many real NBA fans are trashing Book for a poor showing in his first playoffs/Finals of his career? So much so that he or anyone needs to defend him?

If anything, it just puts fuel to the fire. That's just kind of how I see it.

Just 21 of his shots have come at the rim this season, I have a theory he wants to protect his longevity by focusing on those pull ups instead of going into 2-3 defenders. To become legendary he's going to have to become more efficient at the style of play he chooses.

Maybe he should practice his 3 point shooting then. Looks good, but not effective. Will he ever have a season when he is hitting 40%?

If taken without context, this can be a little misleading. By nature, those who guard 3 pt shooters are going to have a lower DFG% than people who guard the best players or bigs, who naturally or typically shoot a higher %. So in a way, it's meaningless. You stick the best long defensive players on 3 pt shooters almost exclusively than they are going to do even better.

Not to say Booker's D hasn't improved dramatically over the last year.

Actually reminded me of Jordan when he did it but then again Kobe was an approximation of Jordan as well.

I thought of both but I guess I thought about Kobe more when seeing the spin move. The hang time and contorting lay up is certainly Jordan
