All that for what amounts to as one 2nd rounder because the other pick is unlikely to convey with the protection. Is there any other advantage for the Knicks to do this? Am I missing something?

We got a 2nd rounder for free, who cares what Boston does anyway that team is in the shittuer for the foreseeable future we need to worry more about us

I think Boston with Tatum and Green has a much better core than the Knicks do.

They are somewhat redundant IMO, our pieces will fit better.

TPE can't be combined or aggregated with player salaries in a potential deal. So we can all stop with the C's using this to get Beal. It's not as valuable as people think it is.

I'm know that this has been covered but I'm bringing it up again.

Fournier might not have come to the Knicks if Walker didn't come and vice versa.
Or they might have individually come. Walker certainly knew he was going to get a buyout at some point and the opportunity to end his career or play a portion of it in NYC definitely appealed to him.

But I'd say fairly early in the FA process or before - maybe the Knicks got wind during that trade with OKC in the draft - the Knicks knew they'd probably be signing Walker and I think they made that part of the pitch to Fournier.

Let's see how it works out.

I think each just came on there own. We offered Fournier the biggest contract and it is a good spot for him. It was pretty easy decision.

For Kemba, he wanted to play in his hometown and there is a spot open for him.

If anything maybe Thibs played the bigger part in it all, along with him helping turn the Knicks image around.

Not sure. Knicks had a standing offer to Nunn before he tried to bandwagon. Guessing Fournier got tampered with early and the Knicks planned really well regarding their PG options. Hell, I would have approved of that Nunn signing if they made it.

the fournier deal is actually decent because taking the team option into consideration you can trade it as early as next year as if it was a 2 year contract

Did we really just increase bostons chance of getting a nice free agent/ trade for a really cheap 2nd rounder? Why? Its not like we have to stock that particular cupboard.

TPE can’t be used as salary adder in a trade to get a player with large salary is what I have gathered.

And everyone likes shooters. Everyone we signed could easily be targets and major need from other teams. This is Marcus Morris type scheme the Knicks working on. You want Noel and Burks to solidify your playoff team? Sure a first and 3 seconds.

Even if that was the plan, shouldnt be doing that with teams in our division. Bad enough that nets got it on lock for the next few years, dont need to be helping anybody else.

deal turns from just ok (Original 4/78 report with no team option) to what I would say is a damn near positive contract given the above and the inclusion of a team option on the last year.

I've never been a big Fournier guy, but given that he is going to be at most the 3rd option offensively and has been as consistent as a metronome the past 3 years in terms of his shooting percentages this is a pretty big upgrade on the wing for us and provides a safety blanket for Kemba, RJ and Julius who all, at times, have battled consistency issues with their efficiency.

It has been really easy for the Magic to trade him so finally they decided for actually gettin nothing in return for Fournier...
Fournier it's an OK player to have around but be prepared to have a big black hole on defense. He just doesn't care.

I don't think it's even that as much as him just being awful even when he tries

Knick fans heard the same scouting reports about, well, the majority of the players on last year's roster - but something about this coaching staff seems to help players find a spark. They look alive, if nothing else...and sometimes that's all it takes.
