we know the team wins/loses the games, but let's keep that same energy when we win.

I hear you. I just know how Celtics fans are. Because PP played well in Summer League and then went to Portland and then didn't shoot so well tonight, obviously, this is all his fault. Despite the fact that it's Summer League and none of this matters.

i understand. he wasn't the only one, but he didn't just "not shoot well" after the first 3 or so minutes he was terrible all around. our big 3 were terrible and the rest followed suit, as i said.

meaningless but i woulda been suped had we won. pickup games dont matter... until your "team" wins. these guys play to win, it matters in that regard, to them (to me as a fan). look how dejected nesmith, pritch and edwards looked, it mattered a lil to them.

worst part of this loss is having to read idiots using this as proof Pritchard and Nesmith aren't starter material.

What a fun SL this was though. The Kings arguably had the most talented squad in the whole affair and deserved to win. This loss was on us. We just didn't hit dozens of wide open threes that we were hitting the rest of the games. 7-36. I don't think this collection of shooters would ever have a game approaching this level of futility but they did and at the worst time for it. Oh well. Nothing they did affected those shots though they are a good defensive team that did get into passing lanes and were physical.

Next year's SL team is going to be among the least talented so hope you enjoyed this show while it lasted.

Nah, it was the turnovers that killed the Celtics. Then Carsten Edwards started to play hero ball and that was the end. It was a numeric and aesthetic failure.

Meanwhile let me share a story. having lived/worked and been raised in NYC most of my life, and having seen TONS of Basketball. Tonight's game reminded me of seeing a highly ranked team, from out of town (HS or AAU) come in, usually with some BIG name All-American and play a bunch of no/lesser name but tough NYC kids and totally get smacked.

I have witnessed this too many times I can't remember them all.

NYC kids play the tough as Shet defense, play with attitude and rise to the challenge of playing whomever, and shut them down. Especially, though not always, Brooklyn kids.

There was a tournament in IS8 Jr HS that is legendary for Big names and decades of serious Run. Well one summer, they had a special player come from out of state. He had some seriously good teammates join him. but went against a team of NYC kids who had some talent in their own right, but no where near the hype and/or talent of this kid from outside NY.

The game was so hyped up, only about 500 fans could get in this tiny gym out of thousands. But I was lucky enough to squeeze in early. The short version is the NYC team beat the "outsiders" and held this BIG Name player to 2 points.

That BIG name player was Lebron James. It was the talk of the town. They said Lebron was shook! But in reality, I didn't see him a shook, but rather the swarm of defenders, who took great pride and focus in shutting him down. The rest of Lebron's teammates were definitely shook.

what is my point to this story?? looking at tonight's game reminded me very much of those NY city's games. Sac took great pride in first shutting down PP. Great man to man by D Mich first and trapping PP with 2 when necessary. they swarmed to him and jumped all passing lanes. Their defensive energy spread to everyone and eventually engulfed all the Boston players.

Almost 40 more shots?? 36 to 2 in points off of turnovers?? killed on the glass and contesting every shot while speeding up everyone.

This was a good ole fashion smacking. One team was way more energized and the other team was out manned and "shook". Just like the teams that came into NYC.

I Just hope not to see too many overreactions. But whatever. On to the season we go.

Davion is a guy I wanted us to trade with GS to get their 7th pick and give up anyone they wanted outside of the Jays. He is going to be a star in this league. He was decent in this game. His defense is always great.

Good thing I don't give a single **** about summer league ball.

I didn't even know this was happening tonight. Or that we made the "Championship"

I just don't know how they are going to play D Fox + Davion Mitch + Hali together. None particularly play well without the ball and all need the ball almost always. Throw in B Hield, that could be a disaster waiting to happen.

they need to make a trade or become like our 2019 Celtics did with Kyrie

What a bad way to end SL after a great 4 games.

Kings defense was amazing.

Pritchard should have stayed in Oregon. Too much traveling and playing. He needed to rest. Props for him trying to fly back in to help the team.

Nesmith was awful on offense, defense and ball handling in this one.

Overall, in 5 games. Nesmith had one great game, one good game, 2 average games and 1 awful game. Overall, I expected more from him.

Can we trade Romeo already? Glad we got Josh so we don't have to rely on Romeo rehab Langford.

I like Carsen, but not on the Celtics.

I feel the Celtics scouting team needs to improve. There were a lot of players in this years draft that the Celtics could have moved up to get, even if it was mid to late first round picks ( Duarte, Sengun, Jalen Johnson, Quentin Grimes and Cameron Thomas in the 13-30 range), that have a chance to be really good players.

he was like smart. actually exactly what we want from smart this season, shut people/opponent's offense down and run the offense. davion needed take less shots or make more than what he did but his defense was big enough to overcome shooting, the same way i feel about what smart provides. his defense busted up everything pritch tried after the first few minutes which busted up our entire offense. then their other guys helped. we got open looks at times but they weren't good shots and were very hurried. not all open shots are equal. once we started missing we never really recovered. we'd make a small run and their offense would answer every time, they were never under pressure after the start and we were most of the game.

Fox and Davion can play together. They should look to trade Hali and Hield. Hield, they were trying to hard to move in the offseason.

because of their defense. we were making the same passes we had the entire way, the only difference was their guys being there to pick them off or disrupt the catch/timing.

Davion is a much better defender than Smart, but Smart is more versatile in that he can guard bigger players in the post.
Davion has great handles and creates his own shot so well, even though he didn't do much of that in this game. He reminds me a lot of Mitchell in Utah, including having almost the same name.

We got destroyed on the offensive boards and were terrible in protecting the ball. We also missed contested shots and open shots. Got outcoached too. Just a bad game all around.

PLEASE let this be the last we ever see of Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford in a C's uniform...DONE with both these LOSERS.
