Quite a few players were taken after Anthony that project to be better players.. I hope Anthony can improve and possibly change his approach to the game.
Hopefully not another throwaway pick by this FO

Cole was definitely a better player last year but Josh still has potential, particularly on the defensive end. Mavs need a creator and it looks like Magic needs an SF. No flaming please, just gauging interest. Thanks.
Orlando needs shooting from a backup SG. Green is not that guy.

Not a terrible idea, but it seems like Dallas is trying to surround Luka with guys that can defend and shoot. If they were to give up on Green, it would be because they are convinced he can't do one or more of those things, at which point why would we want him.
Can't really see Cole as a fit in Dallas either, as hard as he tries on defense he probably can only guard 1's, unless Dallas thinks they need a bench scorer for those 12 minutes or so a game Luka is resting, or in decided games.
Honestly, Dallas probably has the easiest job in the league going forward. Surround Luka with big guys that can shoot and defend, and create insane size mismatches against everyone. Just need KP to stay healthy, and act like he's played defense before, or move him along.

Thanks for the feedback! The idea would be to use Cole as a replacement for Brunson and flip Brunson for another asset before his new deal kicks in. Understand that Cole probably can only guard 1s as well but at least he has more size to him. I like Cole's attitude too.

I liked Green coming in. Tyrell Terry too. Hope they contribute for DAL...ORL could really use a shooter with a little more size in Cole's place, IMO. In my limited exposure, Green really hasn't shown any shooting (yet?). ORL has plenty of non-shooting athletes already.

You are correct that Green hasn't shown much in his shooting yet and was often hesitant to shoot in his rookie year. He's been projected as a 3 and D prospect and he does seem to have put in the work in the offseason for it at least. I think most Mavs fans like him, his attitude and especially his defensive potential but just feel like he along with Terry are still projects and with Luka immensely expediting our rebuild process, just may not have the patience for it. I do think Green could flourish on the Magic where he would have less pressure and play a lot more.

I hope DAL goes all-in for some win-now guys with Luka. Luka is young but he's more than ready so I wouldn't waste a year.
Sounds crazy but Green would only crowd a crowded roster of similar level prospects who need minutes. It's a good thing but I'm already wondering how F. Wagner and Okeke will get enough time at SF to figure it out (also Isaac, MCW, and even RJ might get minutes there). This is Cole thread and same issue at PG/Combo guard (Fultz, Suggs, Cole, MCW, Hampton?)...lots of versatility, lots of depth, tons of questions.

they did that getting Porzingis and re-signing Hardaway. they are pretty tapped out for assets that they could trade for help to Luka.

Unfortunately you are right. There are some avenues (ex. trade exception) but would involve the new FO being very creative and so far they haven't proven that.
Anyways, don't want to turn the thread into a Mavs one. You guys got a good exciting young team and its a nice problem to have a lot of glut of young players to develop. I don't believe Cole will ever be a star but I do think he can carve himself a potential 6th man role.

Any more takes from Robbins on other guards / players?
Or just this overwhelming negative one on Cole?..
