As a SF Tatum wouldn't be rated much higher than Paul Pierce. But maybe you're right. 2k used to overrate Melo and give him a 88-90 every year when he should've been a mid to low 80 so maybe they'd do the same to Tatum.

2k didn’t overrate Melo. In his prime he was unstoppable. That’s where he should’ve been imo

Melo was NOT better than Dirk, Dwight, Duncan, etc. bro stop it. Love you Melo but you dead wrong here. Deron Williams and Rondo were another 2 guys always overrated on 2k.

No im saying Melo at 88-90 is where he should be. Duncan should be at 92-93 for sure. Dirk should be like a 91.

You lost me with Dwight though. His prime was good but he wasn’t as good as you think he is

I think his rating is a 3. Again I think that is hog wash. When he played he was one of the most dominant young players in the game. Pretty much unstoppable. I am venting as it really shocked me how poorly he was in the SIM. I hope this season is different.

How is he supposed to score 20+ a game with 3 higher volume guys on the squad? You're forgetting to put the context of his production into the context of the team he was on. No 4th options are getting 20 ppg.

A 3 rating was still bias in the wrong direction. There is no sugar coating that. Like I said, I am venting because I was shocked. He basically had the same rating as Harris

To be fair I don’t think his 3.5 rating was that off. Julius Randle and Zach Lavine were also 3.5 for me

I think a 3.5 was decent for season 3. But he should have been projected a bump off that.

And he had 4.5 potential so its likely he finished the year 4 or even 4.5 star.

Duncan was where he belonged. Dirk was a little underrated because of the rebounding but IIRC when you moved him to SF he was like a 86-87 which is about right.

Unless you are a STAR player on both ends (I mean All Defense and 1st team All NBA) you don't deserve a 90.

I'm just saying we can look at 2k12 and see how overrated Melo was by looking at the historic rosters. Melo that year (and let's remember he had a down season and wasn't even All NBA) had a rating equal to or higher rating than:

1965 Jerry West
1971 Oscar Robertson
1972 Jerry West
1972 Walt Frazier
1991 Sidney Moncrief
1986 Michael Jordan
1986 Kevin McHale
1989 Isiah Thomas
1993 Alonzo Mourning
1995 Penny Hardaway
1996 Shawn Kemp
1996 Gary Payton
1998 Tim Duncan

That **** was egregiously high.

I agree there. I don't think Zion deserves a 5. He has outside shooting limitations and defensive issues. I don't see him ever being a 5 unless he gets better at one of those two things at a minimum. I do think he is a career 4 as he stands right now.

I'm ready. Didn't submit rankings because honestly I don't understand if we should rate for real life or the sim lol. Certain players I love in real life aren't worthy of love in the sim.

I'm of the thought that a 5 star should be great on both ends or so great on one end it bypasses that (which only Curry might fall into this category and I don't think he currently does).

Outside of Giannis, KD, and Kawhi I don't think I could give anyone in the league right now 5/5 stars following last season. LeBron would usually be there but not after last year.

Jokic and Curry should both be 5's they were the MVP and runner up MVP of the league and while both aren't known for defense they along with KD are the 3 best offensive players in the game right now.

I'm also still putting LeBron in the 5 category as well. And Luka is a 5. Embiid would be close to a 5 for me as well.

But I wouldn't get hung up on individual rankings. I think players individual stats are more important. I truly believe there are some 2.5 star guys better than 3 or 3.5 star guys as long as they are used the right way.

Even Luka and Trae are very soft fives for me. Maybe 4.5 due to weak defense and their 3P shooting percentages are not great. I love them and think they are both awesome; but I am being honest here.

LeBron will without a doubt rate out as a 5-star. The reigning BaF MVP for consecutive seasons, and the way my roster is constructed, I’d bet he has a good chance at a 3rd (barring any type of significant injury).

The SIM is always going to have an anomaly because it is appropriating numbers into ratings.

When you look at Collins year 2 years ago. He was an efficiency beast.

Nearly was a 60/40/80 guy avg 22/10 and 1.5 blocks and a steal per game.

He got rewarded playing with a genius playmaker in Trae who gets him such good looks and got rewarded with his amazing EFF.

He basically finished the SIM with identical numbers he had in real life that season.
