most underrated player in the league at this point

Did he become the most underrated before or after his fat ass had minute restrictions and couldn't play in back to backs?

Chill on the outlandish takes after a few months of good ball lol. Some players go years of playing like this with minimal accolades.

Lmao. He had neither though?

Said it many times, I hate 2Ks overall ratings, cause they are just too high, they barely use number scales, everyones in the 80s or even 90's, freaking stupid, its like they dont want to upset anyone, i remember when Primoz Brezec was 32 in NBA live, you could feel the difference between Shaq and him, Now the difference between all time great and freaking Lamelo is 10 points...

Can you convince me the game has had any discernible improvements in the past 10+ years?

I still play 2k20, and I played 2k11 for years, if I compare these 2, its completely different and much more improved game (over 9 year span), but share some of the same gameplay issues still.
Anyway, I just picke dup Humankind and been enjoying it.

its based on individual categories, then aggregated somehow (probably weighted). the overall rating on its own doesnt mean that much.

Its a formula, but its broken, take any SG and change his position to PF, and his ovr rating will improve, same for Centers switched 2 PFs.

Overalls don’t mean anything lol. Theres an attribute called intangibles and that controls everything. There can be a 84 ovr with his intangibles at 25. He can turn into a 89-90 overall with intangibles set to 99

I could be wrong, but I swear intangibles have no impact on gameplay and probably even simulation. Its a cop out rating for roster editors to use to make ovr rating feel ''right''. If you ever edited these sport rosters, you know that sometimes you will have a feel what players rating should be, but you skill him, and his rating is just too high, and then you have to lower his skills not even believing it should be that low, but doing it cause ovr matter. Same happens to devs I bet, so they made up intangible rating so they could manipulate ovr. Players who have some of the highest intangibles in real life, like Marc Gasol or Ricky Rubio have terrible intangibles in 2k.
While game still lacks several key skills that should be in the game like : Footwork, off ball strength, ability to handle double team, off ball movement. And dont badge, make a skill, I hate badges.

yes

They actually can inflate the overall ratings (which they do with some players to make them look better even with unideal skillsets for their positions) by boosting weird useless stats like intangibles. I used to fiddle with the stats in myleague to develop random players or make players easier to trade for by nerfing them, there seems to be key stats that are important for the overall rating for each position, which is why some players seem so low/high, but they try to fix that with stats like intangibles.

Not sure why people get so hung up on the games being the same all the time, its a sports franchise game, there's only so many changes you can make. I do agree I'd like to see more skills added to add more realism, like footwork, double team awareness, off ball movement etc, but I'm not sure how easy that is to implement in a game, and as far as I know 2k is honestly one of the more realisitic sports games I've played (only played Fifa extensively, and dabbled in Madden which I'm a complete NFL noob anyways so I wouldn't know much).

I buy the game every year because I like playing Myleague, I don't care about the popular modes like Myteam and the online play, and I enjoy having the updated players/rosters and always look forward to playing as the new rookies and developing them as I see fit.

Because they literally just recycle the same thing over and over.

There's is no substance anymore. Like how about replaying some of the Legends best games?

Lebrons game 6 against Boston
Lebrons game 5 against Detroit
Kobe 81 points
Reggie Miller vs the knicks
Dirks 2011 playoff run
Etc

2k11 had It right with all the Jordan stuff but after that its been an awful game full of microtransactions that fool people like you

It's been awhile but I think NBA2K player ratings are based on position. So you can't compare a 90 PG to a 90 PF, for example.

Giannis is way too high, he's not on KD or Curry's level. Dame also seems to high.

I understand what you are saying but the reality is that all NBA players are very good and they usually rate them from 66/67 to 96/97...so there are 30 points between the best and the worst players in the league.

That difference can not be that huge with very good players as LaMelo. Yeah he is not an All time great but he is on his way after a nice rookie season, so I understand that he is over 80 already.

All in all I agree with their ratings.

I haven’t played this game in a decade but it’s crazy how everyone still cites 2k11 as the best and the standard of innovation for 2k games. I remember it being great with all that Jordan stuff and the vintage looking color filters.

I've given up. I really want a good game but not going through the cycle of getting hyped, buying on release, and quitting after 3 days. The last game I enjoyed was 2k16. Stopped buying after 2k19.

Ratings don't matter anymore, 2K makes its money on microtransactions and mycareer, so guess where most of their effort goes into.

They don't spend nearly enough time fixing the single player game.

"the neighbourhood" "the city" "the park" "the cruise ship" smh.

Without being nitpicky all of those seems fair about right imo. Top 10 is about right give or take. The dunkers and 3pt shooters are all solid minus maybe Klay due to injury and not knowing how he'll look whenever he returns.
