Watching with thoughts towards next year… how do we match up against KD without PJ?

We'll have to find someone else to hold Durant to ...... looking at box score....... 48. Is that right? 48? Hopefully we can find someone that can hold a player to 48.

Giannis has to take him more often and sacrifice on the offensive end. Middleton is going to have to take another leap on the offensive end and become a 25-28 ppg player if we want to compete with a fully healthy Nets team

Or...... Just here me out.... Maybe..... Just maybe..... Jrue hits open layups and Giannis doesn't start the series shooting 3s like Curry. I know crazy thoughts but hey we can dream

Also Giannis on Durant is one of the worst ideas that people have seemed to latched on to in some time. Giannis is otherworldly as a help defender and not nearly as impactfull as a on ball perimeter defender. Putting him on Durant doesn't make as much sense as some think it does

There’s a bit too much over correction when it comes to Gianni being an on ball defender. The top 2-3 players in the world are going to score on the best defenders regardless of their defensive prowess. The shots Durant did make over Gianni were extreme degree of difficulty. I do think for extended stretches he can negate Durant’s efficiency.

One way to also limit Durant on offense is to go at him with guys like Brook and Gianni. Force him to defend and box out.

What do you guys think of Marc Gasol as a backup center for Brook?

old skool wrote:The Bucks won it all in 2020-21 with a short rotation, made shorter by DiVincenzo's injury. Their deep playoff run will make it difficult for the coming season. Antetokounmpo, Middleton and Holiday played heavy minutes in the playoffs, minutes that added 40% to their regular season total. Add in the shortened off season and the extra month that Middleton and Holiday played in Tokyo, and there is no way that the Bucks can treat next season like a normal campaign.

The Bucks need to give their three stars extra rest during 2021-22. With that necessity in mind, the decision to let Tucker depart for Miami, makes a lot of sense. Adding more passable NBA bodies like Ojelye, Hood, Hill and Allen seems like a great RS trade off given that PJ/Augustin and Forbes were the only roster subtractions (Teague was a non-factor).

I don't see many obvious ways to increase playing time for returning players. Maybe some minutes can be coaxed out of Nwora and Bryant, but I am not optimistic. Maybe Thanasis can be neutral. I see no hope for Diakite. Can't count on Kalaitzakis and Mamukelashvili.

The Bucks had 7 players play over 1000 minutes last year; they are all returning. Thanasis is the only other returnee with significant minutes (only 551 total). They need to replace Forbes (1354), Augustin (713), Tucker (397) and Teague (334). The challenge is not replacing the players who are departing, but also creating down time for the top 7 contributors.

It falls on Ojelye, Hood, Hill and Allen to collectively pick up significant minutes and on Budenholzer to make it all work. I think Bud has done a great job keeping the Bucks relatively healthy. He has avoided the injury problems that have plagued so many NBA teams. The coming season will be much more complicated as the roster will start the year worn down. Conserving energy for a deep playoff push will be important, and at odds with the equally important goal of home court in those playoffs.

Horst has done a good job acquiring talent without giving up much in return. The Bucks don't need all four newcomers to contribute; just three of them. And Horst can make a difference with a late season acquisition, as he has each of the last three seasons.

Bottom line, the Bucks can't rely on their three stars to play as much as they did last year (8823 combined total minutes) and they can't assume that they will avoid injuries that force role players into major roles. They need improved depth to contend.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The first two months could end up being tough, basically on the road for the first 5 weeks. The first two games are really going to test my hot takes and overreactions. I’m excited

I have no issues with that. Clippers having 27 grinds my gears.

They only have 14 on abc/espn/tnt. It’s 27 with nba tv
If you add nba tv to the bucks we have 37 . Only lakers, warriors, nets have more than bucks.

I understand they want to get the season back on schedule but I want to savor the title more before we start to defend. Short off-season sucks. But I guess I'll always savor it.

You can savor it more next off-season, after our b2b titles.

A second center the Lakers instantly regret letting goto the Bucks. Suki & Giannis would revive him.

I mean, any chance in us signing Paul Milsap? I mean, having a big bodied, semi competent offensive threat, Durant defender, idk why we’d not jump on this. I get were in the luxury tax, but Milsap and Bud have a history. Sign the guy if you can for a good deal IMO, honestly might be an improvement on PJ Tucker.

I get our cap situation, but we could easily sell Milsap ona role in playoff basketball, right? Tucker got those minutes over a smaller guard because he was good on defense and also allowed us to take advantage of our size against other teams. Since he’s not signed yet, idk if it’s about money or role, but he would easily be our Giannis backup based on our current roster, and he’d get a start all the games Giannis rests for.

I guess my only concern is how much can we offer him?

Why? It's a free market based League, you make more money by showing teams in cities that have millions of basketball fans, there's nothing more to it. Who gives a crap? Let them make money.

Old, slow and injury prone, It’s a reason he hasn’t been signed yet. Even in his prime you wouldn’t have wanted him to guard Kd. He’s a small ball 5 like Blake at this point in his career, but way worse.

I generally haven't enjoyed their national TV games. Doesn't have the same cachet of those early games on NBC back during the 2001 run. And Marv was terrible and Reggie was insufferable on those TNT games.

But it'll be interesting to see who takes over for Paschke, because that'll be a big factor in the enjoyment of BSWI games. I'm hoping LePay will take the bump from calling Badgers games.
