Naming one of the smartest players in this league as a possible answer in this thread says more about your bball IQ then his. He’s a winner and that has been proven countless times. This is especially funny because you spent all day yesterday defending Westbrook, who actually has a poor bball IQ thar lags well behind his talent level.

Draymond is probably heading to the hall of fame too, so maybe, just maybe, a player with 3 allstar games, 2 All-NBA teams, 2 Olympic Gold medals, 3 titles and a DPOY trophy was/is a star? Isn’t that how this works? Call me crazy.

Guess I’ll call you crazy...cause take Dray off GS Warriors and dude a rotation starter. No player had benefited more from a system and the system than draymond. Dude cry’s and yells at the refs full throat (IQ) and gets away with it because (IMO) the league would rather have Klay and Curry playing deep into the playoffs so they can’t toss Dray everytime he acts up. How many dumb Shaqtin a fool plays does Dray have from ill advised 3s when KD, Klay or Curry are open? Man....everyone thinking it...Dray is aight but his true Contribution is over rated...curry and Klay and KD make crap happen...dude a super role player

He is a super role player, and those guys have been voted into the hall of fame. Rodman and Ben Wallace most recently.

I’m not sure what ill advised 3’s you’re talking about? He rarely shoots and is one of the best passers and most unselfish players in the league. He only shoots when he’s wide open and the clock is starting to tick down. His understanding of his own strengths and weaknesses is another reason he’s such a high IQ player and led the leagues number 1 offense in assists twice.

You’re just one of those people who thinks you have to be a huge scorer to be a huge difference maker and star. I disagree.

Scoring...Nope....I just think Dray benefits from being on a great team and operates like he is a superstar. Which is annoying...

But I don’t minimize his contributions to winning rings.

I would argue that Dion Waiters has the lowest BBIQ PER POSSESSION in NBA history. He might not have the huge mental lapses of somebody like JR Smith, but he is just consistently basketball dumb every other possession down court.

The guy was like a 6 year veteran and still thinks he can drive to the basket and finish against anybody in the NBA.

I laugh when people bring him up as an example of a former player who would be a star in today’s league. No chance.

Yeah with Bargnani it wasn’t just dumb individual plays, but he was just too slow mentally. He was pretty effective on simple set plays, but for anything else by the time he figured out what was going on the play was already over and someone else had the rebound. He’d be even worse in today’s league.

Nikola Mirotic deserves a small mention just because anytime I saw him play he was always taking and missing horrible shots early in the shot clock. And he got punched out of the league by his own teammate lol.

My favourite Bargnani move, and he did this quite often, is he would catch the ball behind the 3 point line all alone, pump fake a non existent defender, put the ball on the floor and dribble right into that defender who is standing in the lane and was letting him shoot in the first place.

What skills does Bennett have, he is awful. I am not saying his BBIQ is good, but its not like its his only issue, dude is just flat everywhere, talent, skill, everything.

Must have been good at some point. Noone not evne the cavs drafts that guy you described as #1 pick.

The fact I have a clear mental sequence/image of exactly what you've described is scary. Man those were the days.

He really is a big mystery to me, as a person who doesnt watch NCAA, I just dont get how that player was any good even there. I repeat myself many times, but with busts like Adam Morrison or Jimmer, they sucked in the league but you could still see the skillset that let them dominate college, with Bennett I dont see any of that, I have no clue how was he good prospect, seeing him in the NBA and especially that one year in Turkey, I just dont get it, he was worse than most undrafted players.

I thought Bennett’s lack of skill and energy was obvious at UNLV. He stood around watching when he didn’t have the ball. He was dedent in transition because of his athleticism and he could shoot the NCAA 3 but that was about it. He had no post game, despite having a body that could be effective down there. He had no dribble drive/iso game. He didn’t put much effort in. He clearly wasn’t a cerebral player.

Basically the same guy we saw in Cleveland except most of these guys start working extremely hard on their games after they leave college. Instead, Bennett got fat.

I wanted Bennett in that draft pretty bad at 4 for us, he seemed at the time like the kinda guy that if you got him into the hands of NBA conditioning coaches and he could have blossomed into a monster cause he just had that natural strength and pretty decent athleticism despite clearly being fairly overweight and he had some degree of shooting touch. Cody Zeller who we got in comparison was clearly a bleh mediocre ceiling, best case he added a 3pt shot and became something he wasnt in college, but its an example of the time where going for a single is better than going for a home run cause Bennett had no interest in putting that work in.

if you take that archetype, Bennett is like a prototype with a 4 cylinder and Zion is the polished finished product with a V12
but it was a crappy draft anyway

I said it when it happen. Yes, it was one of the dumbest brain farts ever.

Buut...I'll give JR a 50% pass on this one because the play happened 100% as a result of his hustle. He had no business getting that rebound over KD.

Had it happen out of 24 sec possesion sure, you can crucify the guy. But he got an offensive rebound over a guy 5 inches taller than him, out of a miss FT. In hindsight, he should've just let it go and not become an instant meme and a poster child for a low IQ play for eternity.

Literally everybody blamed JR after that play acting as if he would've pass it out immediately the outlook would've been different.
False, there were 4 seconds left on the clock, the odds were still astronomically low they would've gotten anything else as a result.

George Hill will always be my main culprit, this was HIS fault. He shouldn't have missed that FT, that was an epic choke job.
He got bailed big time by JR's dumb play that followed his miss, literally nobody talked about it afterwards.

Bargnani was pretty dumb.... also Marquese Chriss has to be up there.

I thought Eddy Curry's basketball IQ was low, but maybe it's because he didn't really want to play the game.

Thank you breaking that down! JR Smith hustled for that rebound. The best shot he could take at that point would be a put back over KD with a 7'6 wingspan.

George Hill is a 80% free throw shooter and he's been a key contributor in San Antonio, Indiana and Utah in the postseason. Gotta make those freebies.
