Re: Official Patrick Beverley Thread
The one downside I see is that Pat Bev is injury-prone, he has missed a ton of games. That sucks. Good news for McKinley Wright though who still wants to be on the team. Jmac is probably out at this point but if he comes back good for him too. That third string PG will probably get some good run this season.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

I think a vet minimum DSJ or Frank N or maybe someone else from the G who impresses this season are all better than JMAC at this point. He just doesn’t bring enough to the table.

Sounds like he'll fit right in then

The offense largely revolves around a big, primary wing creator and secondary wing creator, with two spot up shooters on most plays. I think the idea is for Edwards and Russell as the wing creators in the starting lineup (either can spot up as well). Right now, unless another PF upgrade is made, McDaniels and Beasley are the two spot-up guys. Even if Beasley eventually moves to the second unit, he's still more a spot-up guy than primary or secondary creator. So there's probably a need for another creator, but also someone with the flexibility to also be a spot-up guy. That's why I think Beverley was targeted.
I think this might be the first time in a while I've agreed with you.

Re: Official Patrick Beverley Thread
Finch has said something interesting in a few recent interviews: "low usage, high impact".
These are the kinds of players we need around Towns, Edwards and Russell. This is Beverley.

Re: Official Patrick Beverley Thread
I think Beverley will be such a critical addition for us.
I can't say enough about the importance of versatility. Finch has talked about having a rotation of 9 or 10 guys. In order for it to be 9, you need players with the flexibility to play different positions/around different players. Inch for inch, Beverley is one of the most versatile players in the league.
He probably won't start many games this season, but I feel very confident that he will finish a bunch of them. I could easily see Russell / Beverley / Edwards / McDaniels / Towns as the crunch-time lineup in a lot of games. Think about horns sets. Russell, Edwards and Towns at the top doing their things, with Beverley and McDaniels spacing in the corners.

Has anyone commented on the Doc Rivers - Pat Beverly connection?

I don't know if I said anything here about it, but that did dawn on me. Still, I'd like to keep him if possible.

I think it got brought up when the trade was initially made.
And realistically, regardless of that connection, I'm sure Beverley is a much more attractive salary matcher than Culver+Juancho, especially to a team like the Sixers.

I haven't seen any comments on how the Rosas firing may impact Pat. They were about as tight as a GM and player get.

It's not a situation where they are going to quickly try to whitewash any moves Rosas made. If that were the case, we'd have a whole new team in a week. While Rosas and Beverley were close, again remember that Gupta and Finch (plus others) also were in Houston with the two of them, so it's not like all connections have vanished. It's not like Tayshaun Prince, whose only Minnesota connection and the only reason why he came was Flip Saunders.
In fact, seeing how it's possible Gupta may be more willing to include Russell in order to get Simmons than Rosas was, this could work out perfectly for him.
