That isn't why lol

Two way players don't count against the cap: https://cbabreakdown.com/contract-types#:~:text=Like%20a%20Summer%20Contract%20(discussed,a%20Two%2DWay%20Contract).

2 way contracts don’t count against the tax. He was a decent summer league player on our team. Probably a bunch of players on other teams who played even better they have eyes on most of us don’t even know about.

Of current league owners, only 5 have paid more luxury tax than Arison. If we expand that to all of NBA history, then there's a grand total of 8. The meme that we have a cheap owner limiting our opportunities is played out and just factually inaccurate

The player from our G league who we really needed to keep, we did. No need to even mention his name. Everyone else, I trust the organization knows what's up.

If you're competing you're in tax. We're not comparing ourselves to the bottom half of the league that's happy for a couple playoffs a decade.

Yeah. But the point is still valid. It’s a inaccurate narrative.

I think things are more simple than what most speculate. Miami likes to have an open Two-way contract going into the pre-season. Why? There are always other players available elsewhere that warrant an extended look against NBA caliber competition. Same with your own NBA hopefuls. Why fill both two-way spots now?

Miami loves Garrett and it was almost a given he was getting one of the 2-way deals. Everyone else was getting Exhibit 10 contracts and compete for that 2-way deal during camp and pre-season. Smart if yo ask me.

Deeky did the right thing for himself and secured the 2-way contract from the Pacers.

Also, I always thought it was going to be an either/or with Deeky as far as 2-way deal with the other one keeping an Exhibit 10 agreement to the G-League. Both have similar skillsets. I think Miami did well.

Garrett looked like Tony Allen during SL making game changing plays. Miami's coaching staff preach those all effort game changing plays. UD became a rotation player in his rookie season with a similar-type of SL showing defensively. Let's see if MG can do it at the NBA level now. This is a no brainer spot for a developmental player.

Ok, I'm sorry. I know I'm very negative now, and I'm trying to avoid posting because of my general dissent, but none of this makes sense. A two-way player can be replaced at any time, so there is no disadvantage to signing Jareau or anyone else now to guarantee another team doesn't poach them.

Unless the Heat sign a much better player this is an error. It's probably not a big mistake, but someone screwed up.

Anyone that watched Houston basketball knows what he could do. The criticism is all correct too. He shoots a lot of bricks. With the right teacher though and a good work ethic, who knows what we could have done?

I'm pretty convinced we're going to sign Rondo. I probably shouldn't even go outside. There is likely a lightning bolt pointed at me.

Or maybe Deeky just wanted to go to the Pacers over competing with a similarly skilled player in Miami - who coaches seem to love - as someone mentioned already. Deeky saw it as a better opportunity probably plus he was offered a 2-way there vs a E10 here. I believe that Miami liked him and wanted to see more but they seems to like MG a lot and are making him a priority. Can't blame them. These kids have been practicing behind doors for weeks under Heat coaches and their scouts eyes. I have to believe that they have other players in mind as candidates for that 2-way spot as well. That Player might be in someone else's SL roster and having that 2-way contract to lure that player becomes more important.

Look, when Miami wants someone, they go for it. Duncan Robinson was given a 2-way during his SL. Maybe they don't feel the same about Deeky right now and wanted to see more. At the end, these are all developmental players. If Miami doesn't catch them now, maybe they'll catch him later like Nunn, Vincent, Strus and Yrt7.

Beasley is probably the most frustrating player I've ever had to follow. He is such a natural and gifted player offensively. All these years after and his offensive game looks the same as it did in Miami. No expansion or growth. And I won't even get to the mental and defensive side of the game. This is why he is still playing Summer League after 12 seasons. :banghead:

Question is, would Michael Beasley be an upgrade over KZ?
