I am not keen on cap space so I ask you: Markannen sign is impossible after Bev trade?

Not impossible, but the likelihood is pretty low. If the Wolves wanted to trade for Markannen they could do a straight swap for Prince. I'm just not convinced that the team is all that interested in giving Markkanen a multi-year deal in the $12-15M/year range.

Great answer! The point is how much we’d WANT to pay, in trade assets (CHI supposedly wants a 1st) and in future salary.
Technically, we could trade Prince immediately (no wait, since we aren’t aggregating salary), and we could legally take back up to $18 mil in salary ($13 + $5), and we wouldn’t cross the luxury threshold. However, I hope our front office agrees with me, that that would be a poor use of our assets.

Re: Free Agency Thread
Maybe bringing in Beverley enhances our appeal to Paul Millsap?
“Look Paul, we brought in Patrick because we want these kids to prioritize the defensive side of the ball, something we know you believe in. With two strong vet voices leading this team’s guards, and big men, I think we could get the point across. We can promise you the starting job here, to remind teams how good you are. If at midseason you want to go to a contender (if we aren’t one), we’ll do our best to send you wherever you want to go.”

I’d really like to bring in Millsap. I think he makes a ton of sense. He and Beverly aren’t making us title contenders but I think they help solidify areas we have needs in. Their contributions and knowledge could have an impact for years down the road, the way Rubio maybe did with Edwards.

Millsap's only good for vet wisdom, he's washed.
I say we try to get Myles Turner or just re-sign Vando and pray for internal growth.
Philly asking for the moon for Ben Sac/GSW has the best offers imo. San Antonio's pieces don't look very win now to make Philly excited.

What have you heard that Sac/GSW are offering?

There might be rumors of asks or even offers, which probably aren't real to begin with and are leaked with agendas in mind. So don't think anyone can say which team has the best offer at current.

If players who put up good stats on a bad team have little value what do players who put up bad stats on bad teams have.
I actually tried to talk myself into a Layman or Okogie for Sekou/Okofor and a first if the Pistons were desperate to get off of bad contracts and Minnesota wanted more draft ammunition for a Simmons trade, but the Pistons do not have a lot of upcoming draft picks. I don't see Minnesota and Detroit as good trade partners.

I remember Sekou being the Holy Grail his draft year and many on this board wanting us to draft him or even trade up to draft him. I haven't followed his career, but I can tell by the tone of this post that he has not been doing well. He's still very young.

I watched him for the last 5-10 games of the season when he got a lot of minutes because Jerami Grant was injured, and he actually did look good. Sneaky good, kinda good like Bjelica was on the Wolves, not a priority for the Pistons to develop, so he gets low usage, but does well in that limited role. I'm down to snatch him if we can, especially if we don't plan to play Edwards at SF at all and want to play the McDaniels/Prince SF rotation, with some PF minutes for one of them two.

I'll take your word for it and hope we can get him. As for Ant if he doesn't play some SF how does Beasley get any minutes?

My preferred scenario would be the 3-man rotation of Ant/Dlo/Beasley at guard spots (split 96 minutes in 3), but that means no minutes for Beverley and Okogie, and they probably deserve minutes, especially Beverley. So yeah, we'll probably have to play Ant at SF a lot, and move McDaniels and/or Prince between the SF and PF spot depending on the lineup.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
