The first 5 featured some twists and surprises and the finale had neither. The fact that it was telegraphed the whole season that Shane would kill Armond I thought there's no way that's what would actually happen. That would be predictable. And then that's exactly what happened. Meh.drew881 wrote:MickeyDavis wrote:I thought the finale of White Lotus was just ok compared to the first five. Pretty predictable. How was it predictable if one page ago you wrote you were going into the finale with no guess as to where it was heading?
I agree that episode 6 wasn’t as good as the first 5. It didn’t have as many laughs as it wound down. I wonder how they will do season 2. Is it all new guests at the resort? That is a big risk, because the hotel staff, minus Armand, don’t really carry the show. And most of the guests, who are the entertainment of the show, don’t have reason to come back to the resort, unless they pull some plot twist to get them back. So do you follow those characters back home?

It's going to be a whole new cast and likely new location or hotel at least. Basically turning into an anthology series.

Thought the first four Ted Lasso’s were sort of mediocre. Trying too hard.
But last Friday’s episode with Roy. Fantastic. That guy drives the show IMO.

Just watched it. Might be my favorite episode thus far. Perfect pace, great music, all of the best characters interacting in a different way. Roy and Nate pilot this plane together, with Keeley and Ted as flight attendants.
Also, just watched the Tigerbelly (great comedy podcast) with Reservation Dogs showrunner Sterlin Harjo, and learned that if Bobby Lee were to have a son, he would name him Chauncey (Gardiner).

The Rolling Stones have to be making a lot of money from the rights to "She's a Rainbow". I really never ever heard that song growing up, but the advertisers and TV shows have all picked up on it the past year or two. Was perfect for that ending scene with Roy.
Little known fact, John Paul Jones in his pre-Led Zeppelin days was the guy who really did the key instrumentals on this as a session musician.

The rom-com theme was go great. The entire episode was basically a love letter to rom coms and the ending an homage to the "frantic cab ride/run to say you're sorry please take me back" you see in so many of them. Not to mention all the easter eggs and lines ripped from 90's Rom Coms (Jerry McGuire, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones' Diary, etc.) It was just wonderful television.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Spider-man: No Way Home sorta-trailer has leaked. Obviously contains a good amount of special effects that aren't ready, but it does give a healthy amount of plot. I've seen it, it looks dope.

"Showgirls? I once went on a date with Gina Gershon"
Epic.

OT from the Lasso context, but…
Hot Take: she was at her best on curb. Come at me.

I think David Paymer as Lil Dicky's dad is my favorite character in Dave. He regularly has me rolling. Proud of him, as I always knew him only as Coach Pederson in The 6th Man. The man is versatile!

He's been in every movie since 1990.

I'm going with Face Off.
She's like the Shane Battier of supporting actresses. Never got her due.

I thought it was telegraphed that the wife would die (she isn’t at the airport in the beginning with Shane; Shane knows there is a body on the plane, like it might be her). As she is becoming unhinged in 1-5, I thought she was going to drown herself in the ocean.

Somehow I missed that Simon and Pelecanos are adapting We Own This City (about the Baltimore Gun Trace Task Force scandal) as a HBO miniseries.

Looking forward to this. Good cast. Jon Bernthal, Josh Charles and Jamie Hector so far. I believe Simon is writing some of it (adapted from the book).

Just finished the book Pines and I’m starting Wayward, I like them so far and wondered how the show Wayward Pines was?
