It is not unusual for trades to take a while to be accepted by the NBA head office. Teams can agree to a deal in principle, and then try to make adjustments, or bring in other teams. The only reason I mention it is that if you are a fan of a Ben Simmons trade, you can hope he will be sent on to PHI while his salary can still be added in to match salaries. The rumors are that MIN has been looking for a third or fourth team to construct a trade package for Simmons, and we might only be seeing part of a Simmons trade right now.

Since I still haven't seen any confirmation about finalized deals, I am beginning to wonder if the Beverley deal and Bolmaro signing are being held up while Rosas continues to pursue a Simmons trade. Once those transactions are finalized, there would a waiting period before Beverley and Bolmaro could be traded, so if a trade was close Rosas might not want to postpone the deal. I could see a Simmons deal built around Beasley, Beverley, the rights to Bolmaro, and draft picks.

Nope. Memphis has to wait until they get under the 20-man offseason roster limit in order to execute this trade.

I mean, good and bad. This is delaying when Pat Bev can be moved again under NBA rules. UNLESS we find another trade before it becomes official and then just convert it into a three or four team deal.

Patrick Beverley is sure acting like he's coming to the Wolves. If we were looking into moving him on in a package we are doing him dirty by not telling him.

If something is up in the air or potential its just part of doing business. Beverly makes 13M a year to play basketball, im not going to feel bad for him if he has inconvenient logistics involved with it. Until something is actually on the table theres no real point in bringing players into discussions about potential front office moves. Once they have a deal outlined they should definitely inform him so he can plan accordingly, but until then he should be in the dark for the benefit of the organization. You dont want a bunch of players knowing the inner workings of deals/potential deals and having info you want kept quiet to be potentially shared.

It wouldn't hurt anything to let him know that they are potentially working him in to another deal. JMO.

But whats the point if nothing is locked in? I understand giving them a heads up because it impacts where they are going to be living potentially, getting kids enrolled for school, stuff like that. But you dont make those kind or arrangements on potential. And if you end up keeping him you dont need him thinking you were shopping him the entire time and might not have even wanted him.

When theres something tangible to report, report it. Otherwise theres no need to inform him. If you want to, fine I guess. I just dont see any obligation to.

This makes it much less likely we will be trading for Simmons soon.

Thank God!

This team needs vets and leadership.
Pat will provide both.

The idea of Beverly ideal, a gritty defensive vet that can hit an open shot. The reality may not be as good. He’s lost a step and isn’t near the defender he was. He can’t do much on offense besides catch and shoot.

However, he is a vet that is a good fit behind DLo at a backup PG that can play with DLo. I don’t think either Culver or Juancho were going to play nor wanted to be here, so to get a contributor makes this a good deal to me.

He could be washed, but you have nothing to base that on. He played well last year. Missed time for injuries.

You are one of the posters that acts like we get these players in their prime everytime ( or when they were good a few seasons back) ie Ed Davis last season lol

You can debate whether a 33-year-old can still play in the league, but comparing Ed Davis, who has barely played in 2019-20, to Beverley who started 34 games and 7 postseasons games for a team that reached the Western Conference finals is pretty silly.

That’s why Clippers decided to replace him with Bledsoe.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
