"the neighbourhood" "the city" "the park" "the cruise ship" smh.

I'd love to play 2K again, did so for many years, but as an offline-player I decided to not buy the last two versions anymore. MyCareer is a pathetic grind which doesn't make any sense (a PG that can barely walk and is slower than Marjanovic let alone shoot and maybe lasts 10min of playing time in the NBA due to poor conditioning as a top pick or highly touted talent, sure..)
The amount of bugs in MyLeague is just insufferable, and since they often show up after a couple of seasons I don't want to start anything until I'm sure they are fixed, which sometimes lasts the complete dev cycle until the next release. Rinse, repeat.

But man, I'd like to play a good basketball game again...

For every position (PG - C) there exist multiple archetypes (like rebounding 5 or playmaking PG or stuff like that) and for each and every of these archetypes there exists a formula that weighs every attribute in the game according to its importance for that role.

And in the end there is sth called "intangibles" which has no direct effect on the game but is used by 2k to tune the OVR rating to what they want it to be.

It’s a different game the ratin system obviously gon change I don’t know why ppl complain bout ratings go update ur 2k21 if u gon complain.. players might have the same overall ratin but one is a shooter.. or a slasher.. or a defensive juggernaut rated high in blocks and steals.. etc.. ppl prolly have no idea how the system works and just complain..

But IMO luka rated too high now he was slow as hell in 2k21.. did he really improve that much.. dame’s game too smooth and they got the same overall rating

*edit prolly the passing and reboundin :dontknow:

I miss the player ratings back in the mid-2000's NBA Live days when they were from 0-100, not 50-100. For example, if you were a 70 overall, it meant you were a very good role player. 75 to 80 meant borderline all-star, and high 80's meant elite. The rare stars were in the 90s such as Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, and KG. Even a bench player with like a 60 overall could come in and give you a boost off the bench.

Now a dude with 70 is a bench warmer and a star is minimum 94. Lame.

For example, check out the 2004 Mavericks ratings.

Dirk is elite in 2004 and he still only got an 84 overall. Nash, who was an all-star the year before, only got 78. Finley an 82 and role players such as Lafrentz got a 65.

A 65 in today's game is unheard of.

Why is that lame? It doesn't affect the game at all...

Yeah, I was/am a single player guy when it comes to sports games. They don't make franchise/association/myLeague or whatever it's called now like they used to. Gave 2k21 a shot before looking into it. There's barely even any users creating rosters etc on PC. Bugs like crazy with myLeague. Maybe played it 6 times since I bought it. Not fun.

Microtransactions are what makes these companies money though and people keep buying the games. Same with GTA. Used to love single player and hope they give single player more love with GTA 6 than they did with 5 (which was no love at all).

People are buying it and spending money though so they don't care. Part of this is there will always be a new young crowd that is oblivious to the quality, they just want the latest sports game.

I just would love to play a new NBA Street, man it was what brought me to the NBA. I remember being amazed with all the crazy moves and dunks.

At least with games like that we dont need to care about realism.

NBA 2K is very good, it has its flaws, it could be more complex in the way we can perform post moves, how the way to move the off ball guys. But its very good, its possible to play different way tuning the sliders, it can get hard, easier, more arcade oriented or simulation. I dont enjoy more because I always fall for simulating a lot of games, and I like to play 10min a quarter, so 40min for a game takes a lot of time. But its how I play.

My Player is very nice and challenging in the beginning, I think it should be harder, no the gameplay, but mechanics like how fast our usage grows.

Overall is a nice game, biggest problem is the fanbase hype

2k should have quit after 2k11. It’s all been downhill since then.

13 and 15 were classics.

2K hasn't been worth playing after 17 though and I couldn't imagine still being interested in the game (Madden either).

I got 2k21 when it became free on ( I forgot but not Steam), but came back to 2k20. Way better experiences and fun with the game.

So aside from Curry (99) and Klay (95) the best shooters in the league max out at 90?

I find that hard to believe.

Thats what I am saying. But I became a modder back in those days, I made FIBA and Euroleague mods for me and my friends, and unlike internet mods, my rosters were in NBA universe, meaning all International players had in NBA perspective ratings. I feel like basketball roster editing was my calling, and when I watched any game, I rated players I was seeing in action, and till this day I stuck on those NBA LIVE ratings. I remember highest rated Euroleague players in my mod were Siskauskas and Diamantidis at 72, which by NBA standards you could start that player, not a great starter but 72 in grand scheme of things which started with Euroleague garbage, was really good. Now the scale starts from 70 which is very lame IMO.

There is always room for improvement. If I made those games, I wouldnt give anyone 99 for shooting, you telling its impossible to be better shooter than Steph?

Maybe, maybe not. In terms of volume/efficiency and difficulty he's pretty damn elite. There has never been, and probably wont be another Steph Curry for a while. Same way I feel there will never be a player like Kevin Durant ever again to a diffrent extent/degree, or not for a while.
