Someone mentioned Thons bro, Makur Maker in the last thread. Reminds me of how you guys apparently did an investigation in 2016 to find out that Thon is actually like 3-4 years older than his listed age. Wish I was on these boards back then.

I wonder how old Makur really is?

I believe we didn't lose our pick until December so I'm guessing we won't hear anything for awhile. Or maybe not at all as they'll sweep it under the rug.

It’s Chicago and Miami.

In other words, the NBA doesn’t care.

They interviewed Reggie Miller, Jermaine O'Neil, Ron artest, s. Jackson, and b. Wallace. Also a couple Detroit fans the pacers gm and a few others.

But mostly it was from the pacers perspective.

It was a perspective I hadn't seen before. Also we didn't really think about mental health back then so I did find it interesting.

It’s sad how it affected Reggie Miller’s career. Tough to see him in tears knowing what could have happened that year.

I was going to post on this but I think there was something about how his actual age was what Thon's apparently was.

Although that could have been their cousin Matur. To make things more confusing Makur and Matur are both playing for the Sydney Kings next year!

Makur apparently moved to Australia when he was one, so I'd say his age is more trustworthy, but who knows :D

Nah. The tears of Reggie Miller's unfathomable sadness should fuel your joy.

Not trying to be a highlight truther (just comes naturally), but had never noticed before how egregiously Kawhi traveled on the catch before that crazy G7 winner against Philly. Not that I've ever seen that called on a last possession.

I like it for Portland. They're a treadmill team but at least they're good. Probably worth that lotto protected 1st just to not pay Derrick Jones another 10m this year.

That's a polite way of saying dumb. Altman turned down 2 -1sts for Nance at the deadline.

Markanen is a poor fit defensively in today's NBA.

Terrific move for Portland, as they also get out from under the bad Derrick Jones contract.

One of you posted, then deleted a theory that the Bulls needed a first rounder, in order to then hand it over to the league as a penalty for the Ball deal. I approve of such posts. Good stuff. LOL.

The big question with this trade of course is why the Cavs think Lauri is good. A stretch big who doesn't do any big man stuff is just a slow wing.

Really like this for all teams, considering their positions. Portland got the best of the deal as I think Nance is the best player and also will fit their roster really nicely. Markannen is definitely a change of scenery guy, so I could seem him do better in Cleveland where he will have zero expectations and all the opportunity. Chicago is a dumpster fire but they didn't want Markannen so might as well get something out of him I guess.

hahaha that was me, but sadly not sure it works since the pick is protected, but maybe?

Blazers have really needed an outlet for Dame with a catch radius like what Steph has in Draymond, somebody who can come out to get the ball and has the skill and recognition to make the defense pay on the 4 on 3. I can't see Nance being as good as Draymond is in that situation but if he's half as good it'll be a major boon for Portland, particularly considering how much higher on the floor Dame gets trapped.

Well, you can't trade consecutive future FRPs, but there's nothing in the rulebook that says the NBA can't take them for cheating.

Meanwhile, Cleveland gives Allen a huge extension, lays down a big contract and trades by far their best vet/roleplayer for Lauri, and drafts a big #2 overall. Wonder how Mobley feels about this. Really a head-scratcher for Cleveland imo.

Checked out the Blazers board where posters are processing:

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2118917

The points about defense becoming a much higher priority under Billups vs Stotts ring true. Can empathize too through our experience with Stotts' defense-free model that consistently failed in the playoffs.

However the bigger question is whether Portland is moving the needle enough to prevent a Dame trade demand.

That and if they were about to trade CJ McCollum for Ben Simmons idk if they deal a protected first for Nance.

What about Love? An NBA source told me the Cavs were making progress toward a buyout for Love, who has two years and $60 million left on his contract. The source admitted it could fall apart and it’s not close to a done deal.
