Our contender status is firmly tied to what Ant becomes. Simmons doesnt get us there on his own, but he puts us in a position that if Ant is able to ascend high enough we could be legitimate contenders.

If Towns/Simmons/Dlo are you 2nd/3rd/4th best players you are a title contender. If Towns/Dlo are your 2nd/3rd best players you are a contender for home court.

At the worst Simmons raises our floor to playoff team regardless of what Ant becomes.

This is 100% correct.

Thoughts about Charlotte as the third team?

They have Terry Rozier, who while maybe not all-star level, isn't that far off. On a good Philadelphia team he could probably put up good enough numbers to warrant it. And they wouldn't want to keep Simmons since the offense runs through LaMelo. I could see Malik Beasley thrive there.

Didn't he just extend? Doesn't that result in a PPP, poison pill? I think it is next to impossible to trade him this year?

So, have we determined what position Simmons is best suited for? How well does he play off the ball? Can he and Lo play together?

I believe that's only for guys coming off of their rookie-scale deals, which Rozier is not.

Don't wanna give up McDaniels..but here, McDaniels, Beasley, Bolmaro and Layman+3 1st..1 of top 3 protected. 1 lottery 1-15 protected. 1 top 20 protected. This is our god father offer. Please take it, Philly!

This makes a lot more sense than the Kings trade..that was terrible and made no sense for Sac

They get a younger and more efficient shooter in Beasley who won't take the ball away from Foxx..3D guy in Prince. They have a more balanced team IMO. Philly wanted Buddy Hield before. Maybe instead of both Haliburton and Hield. It's Hield and a salary filler.

By George. I think you've got it!! I love the point.

Simmons can do great things for us too.

I now lean toward Simmons. Now,.... I'm not so sure. I'd be just fine going with what we have.

When you have Beverly, Beasley, Prince, Reid, Nowell, that can all come off the bench, That may help a team more than losing that depth for another "great" or good, player. Far to few consider how important that is to winning. It's like a security blanket. That depth is exciting and pretty awesome. Not to mention it will provide rest for those starters. How big is that by the end of the year?

What about the ability to move any of those guys in with the starters? We'd match very tough against any lineup.

It's a tough call.

Few thoughts...1) Can't see Sac or Ind working with us on a 3-way deal as they're some of our primary competitors.....the PG that might work in a deal...either Sexton or Goran?

Second....as many argue about Simmons trade value....I'll say this...would he clearly make us better & give Finch an opportunity to hide his flaws...I'll take my chances in that equation.

Something that I haven't seen talked about much & where I feel Morey has not read the situation correctly. Superstars or Allstars get max trade value when another superstar is calling the shots on the other team:

LeBron wanted AD, Kawai/PG, KD/Harden, even Giannis/Jrue....did AD create his trade value or LeBron? Who's the superstar currently demanding for Simmons? Dame, maybe...but that means he trades his BFF in McCollum & leaves even more of the scoring burden on him? Steph isn't demanding for GSW to have essentially 2 Draymond's on their squad? So if that doesn't exist, then they need a star to want out....but again said star only is going to ask out when he's 100% confident that he can manipulate to a better situation. So say Dame &/or Beal....I don't ask out til I know I won't go to Philly....sure they were #1 seed, but is Embid & the remaining supporting cast something that I'd be dying to go to? Butler couldn't wait to get out? Not sure Embid injury history & overall character helps him in this situation? If I'm Dame/Beal...I let Simmons play out & then push to get to GSW & maybe even Dallas as maybe more welcoming options?

I should clarify a few things

I am a Sixers fan and a Simmons fan and a KAT fan

If the Sixers want to move Simmons then nothing would give me greater pleasure in basketball than to see him play with KAT, ANT & D’lo

Forget about playoffs, that’s a nightmare for everyone and Nets level talent

The question is how do you get him because the Sixers need something in return

It depends how much we’d have to give up, but we’d have the potential to be better than what 76ers have shown thus far. Simmons is probably a better fit with Towns vs Embiid because of Towns’ ability to pick and pop, so even if Embiid > Towns, it may be that Towns + Simmons > Embiid + Simmons.

Simmons should be surrounded by more shooters to maximize hit talents. Even after trading D-Lo we would have more shooting than Philadelphia, so even in a direct comparison I see Wolves Simmons > 76ers Simmons. Prince, Towns, Beverly, Ant, Beasley, Nowell all are capable of shooting 40% from 3.

Beyond that I think you can make a strong argument that the Wolves remaining pieces are > than the 76ers pieces, are younger, and have more upside.
