I would have, him being the 4th or 5th option and fitting in the one starting spot Miami is weakest at, toss in Miami's coaching staff to try to shape him into the right type of PF they needed, especially around the 15-16 million dollar range and it's a no brainer to me vs having Tucker and keeping a late 1st and late 2nd pick.
The SG/SF the Miami Heat couldn't let go of Duncan and gave 90 million for him, the other a PF on a team that wasn't all that good. I'd by far take the PF to complete the starting lineup vs giving Tucker 7+ million. The team would have had to go into the tax this year to get that done though by picking up Iggy's contract and moving him and the picks for Markkanan.
Looking at Duncan and Markkanen last year, I'd probably go with the big doing that vs a wing/SG doing what they did.
Robinson 13.1 pts, 3.5 reb, 1.8 asts, 41% 3pt%, 63% TS%, 113 ORTG, 114 DRTG
Markkanan 13.6 pts, 5.6 reb, .9 ast, 40% 3pt%, 62% TS%, 115 ORTG, 113 DRTG
The big difference in the team would be having Markkanen instead of Tucker for starting PF and being down a 1st and a 2nd. If Miami is "going for it" with Lowry, why not go all in?
