Certainly would require dealing player(s) that make the dollars work. Not giving up on PJ, but I view him as a similar gamble to Lauri…ppossibly bigger. Why?

> Coming into last season so out of shape was a warning flag moment. Improvement measured in the summer between year 1 and 2 demonstrates a young player’s mindset, priorities, dedication. PJ flunked this test.

> PJ can be viewed as a small ball center, but his effectiveness in that position is questionable long term. So, does he better fit the 4? Maybe. Would Lauri be a better 4 than PJ? Maybe. So why consider dealing PJ as part of acquiring Markkanan?

> What I see in PJ is a player of good potential who is kind of a tweener. He probably has his best skill set for center, but he’s just too small to SUSTAIN success in that role. In Lauri I see a taller, motivated stretch 4 who can play center. His skill set is strong. Like PJ he needs to improve his defense but his size coupled with his athleticism can help improve that.

I’d love to have both, with PJ playing a super sub role backing Lauri at the 4 and occasionally others at the 5. Could a trade involve Rozier? Depends on what we get back. This type of deal is most difficult because Markkanan and his agent hold a higher value in their mind than Chicago and possibly the remaining market does. Such deals take time to work out, if they ever do. What would Dallas want..what do they need? Maybe they’d receive our player(s), sending theirs to the Bulls.

I am down on PJ for the reasons you mentioned (coming in out of shape and having not improved during a crucial period of his career) and the fact that he could not figure out that a woman 8 years older then you who has dated a dozen other semi-celebs but got passed over by all of them may just not be the right woman to have a kid with! Hopefully he was just being young, dumb and in love but dang, that is not a good indicator of the guys maturity and smarts. I am fine with a Lauri/PJ swap if we do not have to pay him much more then we did Oubre. Lauri is larger, has scored more pts regularly, is still young too and has an elite skill (jump shooting big man) that we need.

Not saying I'd like it but it'd be kinda funny to outbid NO by using their own pick.

So…if the league, for some reason, terminates the Lonzo Ball trade, do y’all think we should make a move for him?

Not at that price. I see Bouknight replacing Terry either next year or after a trade this season. Lonzo is expensive and would jam up the guard rotation. Need an impact BIG much more.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Memphis is at 17 active contracts after picking up Rondo, Beverly and Oturo for Bledsoe.

Adds some point guard depth to the market possibly as Memphis already has Ja Morant and Tyus Jones at point.

Other available point guards at this point via Free Agency...
Dante Exum
Frank Ntilikina
Shabazz Napier
Dennis Smith Jr.
Mike James
Grant Riller
Ryan Arcidiacono
Matthew Dellavedova
Jeff Teague
Jordan McLaughlin
Tremont Waters

Delly looked completely washed at the olympics, exum is an interesting athlete but I wouldn’t be comfortable with him running an offence.

Yeah, that's not a horrible deal but still pretty pricey for a limited guy.

I guess Cleveland needed to ensure they always have a soft white shooting big

Why didn't Chicago just take Larry Nance, he would have been perfect for them as a small ball 5 in crunch time

I hope Mitch cuts both Iwundu and Richards and signs Dante Exum to a minimum deal. Exum was huge for Australia in the Olympics, I'm sure it went a long way towards restoring his confidence. We need another long guard and he has connections to NC through his Dad.

I'd be down with Exum, as long as it's a no-risk 1 year deal. He cannot be trusted to stay on the floor for any length of time. He's played 82, 0, 66, 14, 42, 35, and 6 games in each year of his career.

The Hornets need a third point guard to cover for injuries if nothing else. But I don't see Kupchak cutting a contract, much less two, to add a player from the market. I think he's more likely to swing a trade (ala Brad Wannamaker) if the right one comes along.

And I don't know what the Hornets see in Wesley Iwundu. Did New Orleans make Charlotte take Iwundu or did Kupchak see something? I found this article from his time in Orlando that may shed some light:
