Simmons to Denver (w/o Murray)

Post#741 » by realball » Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:51 pm

Ben Simmons

for

Aaron Gordon, Will Barton, 2022 1st

Sixers get two starter level players for Simmons who will fit better next to Embiid. Nuggets consolidate assets and improve their defense.

how does gordon fit better next to embiid? He not exactly a shooter and overlaps in position w/ Harris. I wouldn't play Barton over Green either.

Icing on the cake is Denver cant trade their 2022 1st.. or any 1sts for that matter due to picks/protections owed to okc/orlando

I just threw the pick in their to appease any woeful Sixers fans, not really a deal-breaker.

Gordon fits better next to Embiid because he can at least shoot a little, while still providing some defense. He's a much better off-ball player than Simmons. And he fits like a glove next to Harris, he can guard whichever forward that Harris can't.

Does that offer even get Simons from Blazers?

A little buzz on you tube this afternoon about Simmons for Haliburton and Hield, with maybe the swap of two more rookies and next year’s Sixers #1. Christopher Klein is cited as the source, from Sixer Sense?, which makes it seem less like clubhouse chatter than an ongoing pipe dream. But to me that’s an interesting trade for two clubs with definite talent who have both, in their own way, been stuck for a while.

I don't like Simmons and Fox together. I'd probably do Haliburton and Hield for Siakam before that trade if I was SAC.

Same. Can't imagine why you'd want to pair Fox and Simmons.

15 yrs of missing the playoffs because of a lack of overall talent would be the reason.

Hali, Hield, Barnes, Simmons, Holmes - Davion, TD2, Harkless, Bagley, TT

That is a playoff team, a better team than keeping Fox over Hali/Hield.

Por-Bos-Phi-Cle mega deal

Post#751 » by Jingles2 » Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:00 am

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ygjyqocx

Portland looks to retool with younger players and if Love can stay healthy and gets engaged (coming home) they could still be a playoff team this year.

Philadelphia gets McCollum who is a better fit with Embiid. Also, the relationship with Simmons may be beyond repair.

Boston gets another Superstar to make a run at the East. Covington helps shire up the 4 position as well.

Cleveland gets off some guaranteed money.

Hardest of noes from POR.

POR rebuilds by sinking $60 million/year into Kevin Love and Young Socialite.

Terrible.

What this deal really is, is a chance for BOS to acquire perfect fit talent at a discount.

Curry/Maxey/Milton should be enough to cover the PG spot. Then Barton/Gordon/Green/Thybulle/Harris/Niang/Korkmaz on the wings.

Alternatively you can replace Barton or Gordon with Monte Morris & Jamychal Green.

Portland trades: CJ McCollum, Robert Covington
Portland receives: Ben Simmons, Will Barton
Portland gets a defensive playmaker who should synergize really well with Lillard and help elevate Portland's defense into the top 10.

Denver trades: Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Will Barton, Monte Morris
Denver receives: CJ McCollum, Tobias Harris, Robert Covington
Denver moves Murray + two nice rotation players for two of the better 2nd and 3rd options in the league and brings back an elite defender.

New Orleans trades: Brandon Ingram
New Orleans receives: Jamal Murray, Shake Milton
New Orleans takes a step back for a year, but gets a really good guard of a similar caliber + another young combo guard who should be a great long-term fit with Zion.

Philadelphia trades: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Shake Milton
Philadelphia receives: Brandon Ingram, Aaron Gordon, Monte Morris
Philadelphia trades Simmons and Harris but in return gets a very balanced roster that still has a good second option.

I think that's terrible for Denver, absolute robbery by PTB and kinda fair for NOP and Sixers

I think it depends on how Denver feels about their timeline. Are they comfortable possibly not being a contender this season b/c Murray is out? With CJ + MPJ + Tobias + Jokic + a lot of nice depth they'd probably be the best team in the West, IMO. I don't think it's that far off for Portland, I have Barton as a neutral to negative value and Covington as pretty positive, and I think that spans the gap between CJ + Simmons, but YMMV - I realize opinions on him are really split.

Harris/Jokic frontcourt would be just horrible defensively and value gap between 30 years old undersized sg without defense and Ben Simmons even now is very big.

It's pretty clear CJ would be best playing the 1, even if he isn't your main playmaker. I also completely disagree about Simmons' value.

Barton is actually a pretty good handler and can somewhat run an offence. Having said that, way off in terms of value for Philly
