Red Sox are more disappointing than that hurricane Henri hype.

Maybe I am projecting myself on the team, but I think they were bummed out when the trade deadline passed quietly. I feel like if they added a closer, shifted Barnes to a set up role, and bolstered their starting rotation - combined with Sale's return I would have considered them favorites to win it all.

Sox were seriously overachieving fake contenders. Then the bubble burst. Reality bites.
Cora stuck with guys like Dalbec and Durran a long time. He understands this is a development year. I'm glad we didn't trade those guys away for some rental.
To me, even getting Schwarber was a mistake. Would have rather kept assets, although he didn't cost much.

Little Mac rocked the Kasbah yesterday against the Giants. I mean he looked really REALLY good throwing 18 completion in a row in one stretch. Gonna be a fun year with Celts and Pats beating expectations.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
Mac looks excellent which is the most important thing for the Pats moving forward. Looking forward to tonight.
The other two guys who have caught my eye are Stevenson and Judon. Didn’t realize Stevenson was in the 240-250 lb range. To have that speed, agility and elusiveness at that size …. Wow. He looks pretty good catching balls out of the backfield too. I’m also glad we dumped Sony and will be giving Harris more touches.
Judon looks like a beast and we really needed an infusion of talent on the D line. With his addition and Hightower and Van Noy returning the D should be better.
I really hope we can work things out with Gilmore because if he is back and productive our D should be phenomenal.
Need more out of the new additions at WR and TE.

Judon is a **** stud always loved him just another classic under appreciated ravens lineman he’s gonna be a monster in the run game too.
Godchaux is quietly gonna be great for our run d also should be much improved there. Especially coupled with high returning and van noy.
Stevenson looks like a keeper and a half idk how we **** our way into him and Mac good lord kid looks ready so excited really wish bill would start him looks like all signs pointing to cam tho.

just read they have to decide whether or not Gilmore stays on the PUP list by tomorrow -- if he stays, he's out for the first 6 weeks. Interesting.

I just read that. I was like WHAT???? I"m really excited to see how Mac does this season. Tell what you, as I watch the kid play I keep getting major flashbacks of Brady.
Is the next Patriots Dynasty about to start????

WHAT. Holy sh*t. Who tf saw Cam getting cut?
I'm not nearly as passionate about football as I use to be, but this sure af is a shocker. Looks like big Mac is the man.

Bill's like DAMN it feels good to be a gangsta
not messing around. Love the ripping off of the Cam band aid -- Mac's ready to go, now, so why **** around -- but I selfishly wished they'd worked something out with Gilmore so they can be the best team possible right out of the gate this year.
But Belichick doesn't play. He'll bleed his salary opportunity and try to show him they can be 'fine' without him. Here's hoping they actually can be..

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
Good Riddance Cam! I actually thought he got too much blame for last year when the talent around him sucked but it was pretty clear that Mac was better in the preseason. I thought Bill would make Mac wait on the bench for 4-8 games because hE's A rOoKiE but sooo happy to be wrong about that. I wish Cam all the best moving forward. Seemed like a genuinely good guy who was excited for his teammates success.
Like Particle man I wish Gilmore would be on the field for the start of the season. At this point I'm hoping we can get the rest of this year out of Gilmore and Bill doesn't trade him away. Ya just never know with Bill.
Much more excited for the season now. Injuries at TE and talent at WR are still concerning but at least we get to watch our QB of the future.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
So the two most likely reasons for cutting him completely are that he was offered a backup position and said no thanks or Bill was worried about his role in the locker room causing problems for Mac being the starter. If Covid was a main reason I think Bill would have punished him by sitting him out the first day he was back.

I appreciate the thought exercise here, but the great thing about cutting him is: it doesn't matter.
I hope Cam gets another opportunity elsewhere, should he be up for competing for it.
But for the Pats: onward and upward.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
Wow. Hope it's more of a commentary on how far along Mac Jones is as opposed to how far Cam has fallen off since his prime.
I thought they'd have given Cam a shot out of the gates to let Mac get a chance to learn the ropes as the back-up and then make the switch if/when Cam wasn't getting the job done. My logic is that it wouldn't make sense to go with Mac, have him struggle, then be questioned about when Cam is getting a shot. Better to let Cam flame out and then give Mac the reigns since no one would be clamouring for a QB change even if he floundered to start.
This really solves that problem. No ones going to be calling for Hoyer or Stidham even if we open up 0-8. You'd ride the 15th pick to the basement and another shot at a QB in next year's draft. And if it goes well, then you've made the right call.
Training wheels are off kid. Show us what you got.
