(Vanderbilt's minimum is roughly half of Millsap's minimum)

The vet min for millsap would be 2,641,691 with 1,669,178 counting against the cap. I'm assuming that if he gets above the minimum then it all counts against the cap ie 3 million salary = 3 million cap hit.

As I said, roughly $3 million is his minimum (players don't care about what counts against the salary cap), and he's wanting more from championship teams.

You take in more info than I do, but has he said, “from championship teams?”

I haven’t heard that yet.

He has been pursued by Brooklyn, LA Clippers and Golden State, yet hasn't signed yet.

Saturday I heard MIN was one of six teams to contact him.

I think we could make a good pitch. If he truly has some gas left in the tank, MIN is about the only team that can offer him a starting spot to prove it. With the addition of Beverley, he wouldn’t be the only vet imploring the youngins to play defense, and here he would be a team leader. We could also offer, especially if he’s on a vet min deal, to trade him wherever he wants to go on January, if he’s unhappy. He can use us as an audition for his next job, if that’s what he wants to do.

On the other hand, if he is one of the many older players that wants to take it easy, keep his minutes low, and play occasionally off the bench on a contender now, then I will give up hope.

He has a decent shot to be starting PF in Brooklyn if he wants.

I actually believe Rubio will be bought out this year by the Cavs and will sign with a contender (maybe back to the Jazz for a playoff run). I do think Ricky will return to Europe next year. I think he loves and thrives as a starter. He doesn't like coming off the bench. I'm not sure he's a starter in the NBA anymore, so playing in Europe makes sense. He saw Gasol win a title this summer.

Ricky talked a lot of smack last season about the team in its direction. Guys don’t tend to do that unless they want a trade. Also if Ricky wants to stay in the NBA he needs to consistently hit his layups. The first half of the season his offense was imaginary.

It all started with this tweet.

Read on Twitter

It is hard for me to blame Edwards who is NBA rookie if he missed the switch in defense. But lack of communication in defense makes me sad. I think that has been an issue for years, we lacked communication in defense. We have capable defender such as Okogie, MCD, Vando but right now they are more high energy, high effort defenders. They use more physical tools than basketball IQ, they are not able to impact team defense yet. Hopefully Beverly can provide some guidance when he defends PoA. First priority should be communication as group.

Another thing is versatility in defense, i.e. our ability to execute different defensive schemes in order to defend different matchups with different personnel. Watch how 36 yo Gibson, and rookie Obi Toppin rotate.

Again, it is hard to execute many defensive schemes when our young players such as MCD, Vando, Reid lack experience, we need impactful veterans to be integral part of team defense. While I think that 1-3-1 idea should not be the main idea to build this roster, I still believe that Rosas failed to construct a roster to play 1-3-1. We had RoCo, but played Graham as second wing. Now we have MCD as 6'10 SF but we have complete void at PF. I believe that we still can play two comboforwards at SF/PF if second wing next to MCD is a big, tough, defensive minded wing. Prototype for such players is Jae Crowder who recently went in Finals with MIA, PHO, Torrey Craig. 6'6"-6'7, 220-235lbs, positive wingspan. There is no such player available for trade right now, and closest type of defender is Stanley Johnson, who had positive season in TOR, and maybe Finch worked with him in TOR and can find keys to make him an 8-9th player in rotation.

Last thing. Our defensive woes often have been aggravated with lack of shooting. We could not score efficiently, making opponent life easier in defense, we could adjust their tactic to our non shooting unit, going under screens, forcing TOs etc. This year might be different. We traded two horrible shooters (Rubio, Culver) and one horrible defender (Juancho). We basically have three players who make 40% 3pt shots (Prince, Beverly and Beasley who missed second part of the season). It should allow to use more often non shooters such as Okogie, Vando. Last season we saw lineups where two of Culver, Okogie, Vando, Rubio shared the floor together. Next season can put different lineups with two good defenders with only one non shooter. For instance, KAT-Prince-MCD-Edwards-Beverly, or KAT-MCD-Edwards-Okogie-DLo.

Thank you! I have been mostly enjoying my time with my 6 months old daughter and two elder sons and one elder daughter. I also was lucky to travel in Europe, visited more than 20+ cities in Italy, Portugal and France.

Europe is on my bucket list of things to do before I die. England, Ireland, Scotland particularly, but all of it.

NOPE I prefer the ones I stated. I don't speak the language of any of those countries and I'm not as interested in the history. My great something uncle was founder of the Bobbies and Prime Minister of England.

It's not about history, these are the countries with gorgeous nature, beaches, warm weather, architecture, amazing cuisines and beautiful women. England, Scotland and Ireland don't tick a lot of those boxes. I do understand the personal reasons tho.

I also love everything Celtic. I'd be happy to visit France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and particularly Greece. For the beautiful women I'd go to Romania and the Ukraine.

Go wherever you want, but just in case it ever affects a travel decision later in your life, I just wanted to mention that don’t let any concerns about the language prevent you from traveling anywhere in Europe. Many Europeans are bilingual and often speak several languages, and they have often taken a few years of English in school. In addition, the people I’ve met in mostly tourist cities are exceptional English speakers. I try to pick up a few phrases in their native tongue to be polite, but we both soon realize it’s a whole lot easier to converse in English, and several appreciate (and are amused by) my feeble efforts. Even several countries that are only starting to emerge as travel destinations are well-equipped for English-speaking tourists.

I fully understand that communication would likely not be much of a problem in those countries. I would just prefer English being the norm.

If you speak 3 languages you are trilingual, if you speak 2 languages you are bilingual, if you speak 1 language you are American.
