Didn't it fall over because Philly didn't want to include Maxey in the deal?! I could be misremembering but it was a big fail from Philly.

I mean, what is the non-Minnesota market for him?

Warriors, Trail Blazers, Kings, Raptors?

I bet there are some GMs who would be asking for picks or looking to dump some albatross contract before they agree to pay Simmons his remaining $170m. I mean sure the guy defends and passes, great, but he is abysmal in every other respect, from the offensive part of his game to his attitude, his contract, his improvement trajectory, and how easy it is to construct a winning team with him.
I'm sure there are some GMs willing to give up something of value for Simmons but man, that must be a very small market for Morey.

I think every team in the league would like to have Simmons on their roster.
But there aren't many that can make the money work.
And there aren't many who would be a great choice from his perspective (sure we'll take him and give him 15 minutes a game when GA is on the bench and maybe 10 minutes a game when they're both on the court). If he really limited it to the 4 California teams, all Philly will get are lowball offers. Then the 6ers have to decide whether to call Simmons bluff.

I think with hindsight Houston choosing not to want Simmons has turned out to be a fine choice so far.

This is how he (and by extension, Lebron/Klutch) always seem to operate though. Basically, "Pay my client what he wants or else you get on Lebron's bad side", and we're seeing the ugly side of that play out now in real time. He doesn't give a **** about Maxey's interests or any non-premier clients that aren't potential Lebron super-team additions. The second Lebron leaves the league, all Paul's negotiating leverage goes with him. Don't get me wrong, most if not all agents have a little bit of that narcissistic scumbag in them, and Rich Paul is no different.
