Re: Marc Stein: Toronto has expressed interest in Ben Simmons
Im sure Simmons would prefer to play in California, but he isn't going sit out if he's moved elsewhere. The only team he's done with is the 76ers.

Rich Paul is a cancer to the game.

They are not even in the same league defensively. Simmons is a legit DPOY candidate. Siakam flares his arms all around, runs around like a chicken with his head cut off and gets bodied by bigger stronger players. I really wonder sometimes if posters on here have any idea about NBA basketball or maybe they just watch Raptors games or something. Simmons had better win shares, per, effective field goal percentage, steals, blocks, assists. The man somehow even shot a better percentage from 3. Siakam could not c=even crack 30 percent from 3.
Yeah I have to wonder too.
And lmao at better from 3.

I think it is silly to not support a trade of Siakam for Simmons straight up. You would need to be a homer not to do so.
Can you remind me how Ben Simmons did in the playoffs this year?
He was terrible, but that is the only reason you may be able to get him for a player like Siakam.

I never said he was better from 3. Neither can shoot worth **** and at least Simmons knows this and does not chuck away and waste possessions. I take it you disagree with my thoughts on Siakam defensively then?

You didn't post any real thoughts on his defense. Just some hot take insult that has nothing to do with reality. As is saying their shooting is equally bad. That's just dumb.
Yeah Simmons not shooting got them real far in that last game 7. Or.. its the problem with his game that you see as a positive for some reason.

I was not aware that Siakam had family members on real gm. That is the only reason to think someone would be in denial and think he is a better overall player than Ben Simmons.

Pascal’s advantage on offence far outdistances Ben’s on defence. This is clear.

Ben Simmons is a DPOY candidate. This statement is beyond stupid. It is sad this form has turned into a bunch of homers. No wonder other fan basis on here bash us. Ben gives you 16/8/8 on his career to Siakam who gives you 14/6/5. Simmons is a poors man Lebron/Magic and homers on here do not want to give up Spicy P of all players for him. Ujiri clearly wants him, but clowns on here know better. Okay. Asinine.

Not only Ben Simmons can’t shoot, he does not shoot. He wont even attempt a dunk/lay up when the game is on the line because he is so scared of being fouled. What do you expect to happen in the playoffs next year? We don’t have Embiid or even Tobias. Never mind that he does not want to be here. Terrible idea all around.

Simmons was better last season (before the playoffs). Pascal was better (2nd team all-NBA) the previous season and was a >35% 3-ball shooter. Re-watch the zero-point Embiid game from that season, where Pascal hit the dagger and Simmons attempted some stupid outside shot with plenty of time left on the clock. We all know why Pascal struggled in the bubble and last season.
In terms of career per game stats, Simmons missed his entire first season, and as #1 overall pick started the next season. As the #27 pick, Pascal got spot minutes in his first season, and didn't start until his third season. So you can't compare them.
Temper tantrums last year aside, we already know Pascal fits with Raptors players and culture. We don't know that about Simmons. Better the devil we already know. It's not like Simmons is a Kawhi-type who will lead us to the championship next season. And Pascal isn't DeMar.

This is a well thought out post. I was cherry picking at career stats and that is fair. Siakam went off and was looked at as a top 10 player on the season, which he ultimately was rewarded as with his 2nd team All-NBA selection. I think that shooting was a fluke and was league average as in when he was on fire. I really do feel that Simmons is the better player, while being younger and providing upside. Nobody seems to agree with me though whatsoever.

Simmons is the better player and he doesn't even shoot. If he gets over his psychological issues, he's a top 5 talent in the league. Big IF but I believe our FO and coaches can pull it off.

understand you passionate about it, but it's a really risky trade.
Simmons is undoubtedly more talented,
but as others pointed out, there's some serious holes in his game that makes him even a liability on that end esp playoff situations
Shaq and Giannis have signficant shooting problems but they are far-more talented, which is incredible given how talent Ben Simmons is

Re: Marc Stein: Toronto has expressed interest in Ben Simmons
The disrespect on Pascal is real lol, just answer this simple question, do you think the Sixers would go further into the playoff if they have Pascal instead of Ben? Siakam was proven to be a 2nd or 3rd option on a championship team. Simmons has proven **** when the game matters. You can argue all day saying Simmons is a defensive god, but I would take Pascal in a heartbeat.
The thing is even if its a straight up trade, its not like we are getting a Kawhi. Obviously both players are not a 1A option on any team I don't think its a good idea to swap a 1B especially when reports says Simmons prefer Cali teams

I can see the interest on our end, they're star hunting and simmons fits their defense/position-less vision... but still not convinced Simmons wants to come here and trading for someone that doesn't want to be here is not a compelling idea. someone else will pay up now that the bidding war is on. cavs/wolves will go in
