Re: OT: Bears Talk - Justin Fields era begins
With trufant being cut we need another corner. We could sign a stop gap but I think we should trade for Gilmore. Quinn and a decent pick could get it done.
Trevathan will miss the first three games. I think this will make him lose his job to Olgatree. Trevathan could be a trade piece
Fole to the cowboys may be our only trade option for him.
We should sign Skura and Wagner

that kid was dog who was not afraid to go over the middle and catch a ball
showed me some toughness, I liked him.
my whole theroy on WR is that these guys have to expose themselves to big hits. they know they are vulnerable when they stretch out to grab a ball and know any play could be their last. yes every NFL play is like this but I think WR is especially vulnerable. they need to make the catch AND look forward for more yardage - and avoid getting crushed.
Miller was a 2nd rounder making a mill per year and trying to get paid.
This should have been a big season for him here taking big hits looking for a huge contract.
Once these guys do get paid - they don't go over the middle like they used to.
We should see a big season from Cole Kmet this year if he wants to get paid.....
It's a shame Miller didn't work out. He had some bad drops as I remember though, and then when we really needed him in that last game, he went and got ejected. That was the final straw for him.
I'm surprised Dazz Newsome was let go. I thought he had some potential, based on his film.

Rodney Adams' emergence in camp and the preseason games probably pushed Newsome out, normally you'd give out a pity spot for a guy you just drafted. Newsome needs to hone his route running he'll get a chance to do that on the practice squad.

Rodney Adams is JAG at best. Doubtful that this was an overabundance of talent numbers thing. For a team that needs a receiver to cut one of it’s own draft picks, there must be something else wrong with Newsome other than having route tree issues to iron out. Im glad the team isn’t trying to carry the guy forever like Ridley if he can’t play. Maybe this is growth or something. But sure no harm in sticking him on the practice squad. Just saying, in general. Qualify all of this opinion with the idea that the the Bears may not know what they are doing either.

It's a few old guys pushing that number up several points that probably won't be here past this year. May not even contribute much this year depending on how things shake out.
Dalton, Foles, Jimmy Graham, Peters, Quinn, Trevathan. Most of them have their replacement in the wings. Trevathan is probably the biggest one that'll need replacing. The core of the team is pretty young.
older guys on a lot of teams. The Bears are the oldest, that is fact. Other than Dalton, I don’t see a lot of super hot property replacement people worth mentioning really. If one wanted to subtract Peters and be happy about possibly not being literally the oldest, that would be damning with faint praise.

is this based on average age, or median age?

That I can’t tell you was specified. My impression was average age when they mentioned it this morning on the Score. If it was median, that seems like a detail that would be mentioned

Rodney was waived yesterday. And we did pick up a corner and a safety.

Re: OT: Bears Talk - Justin Fields era begins
The fact that Pace chose to extend his RB3, ILB2, and give a 4-3 DE 70 million (while not extending his WR1 still in his prime) is quite infuriating. Also, cuts to still productive players- Leno and Fuller who were both in decent deals will bite us this year.
This is a 7 win team unless Fields goes bonkers in year 1. We still lack an offensive identity and lose too many battles in the trenches. Nagy’s poor feel for play calling doesn’t exactly help either.

They are favored in 4 games
Yeah they invested a lot of assets in damaged goods, Quinn, Trevathan and Jenkins. Made some painful cuts as a result. At this point it looks like they can crater. Long shot to be .500

Didn’t know about the safety. Guess that tell us about Christian

Throwing my prediction out there for this week: 34-13 Rams. We will realize our defense is below average now. Stafford will shred us. Dalton TD, INT 185 yards. 70 yards on the ground from the RBs.

Seems legit. I'll go 27-12 Rams

Hard to understand why they would only be favored in 4 games when oddsmakers have them pegged at 7.5 wins this year....

I casually gamble for giggles but honestly that seems like a big hedge. I mean if you would expect them to be favorites in 7 or 8 games, but that is nearly double their win total vs the games they are favorites in. Don’t know know enough but I agree that seems odd.
So do the Bulls or Bears have a better winning percentage at the end of their seasons?

34-17 Rams. This secondary is gonna be chewed up and spit out by a lot of teams IMO.
FYI there no games this week.
