Fans are amazing, if you win a title as a ring chaser or a super team, then you’re in the conversation when talking about championship players.

But for the weeks and months before that happens, they bring pitchforks at players the moment the media implies deceit.

The dude has worked hard his whole life, he’s on his last legs. No one can say Milsap didn’t try hard enough in his career. He can’t get his market value so he decides to be a heavy contributor on the number one contender, taking the minimum. He’s going to be a serious rotation player. He’s going to bring a skill - defense - that none of the stars have. He’s probably going to be a defensive leader there.

Forgive me, but when did chasing winning become worse than chasing money? If you have to hate on a guy for doing that, you have serious problems.

just 4 years ago this guy was putting up 24PPG and getting to the FT Stripe almost 9 times a game in the playoffs......

did he really age that bad that fast?

Last year he was a detriment with the starters in Denver and was really only effective off the bench in the right matchups. He is no longer quick enough to score on anything but wide open layups and 3 point shots and on defense cannot guard most backup PFs at this point. I wish him well but there is a reason the Nuggets signed Green over him this year.

"4 years ago" is a lot of time when you're on your mid-30s, man.

32 to 36 is basically the end of your prime to early retirement vibes.

As for Millsap nowadays, I think anything else than providing 10/12 spot minutes is gravy for him.

Millsap at 6'7" has always been an undersized PF who relied on strength and athleticism for defense very similar to a Draymond Green type of player.. With his decline of athleticism he has became a massive liability on defense. I'll post this again.

The biggest reason that Denver went on the massive run after the Aaron Gordon signing was because they finally moved Millsap to the bench. Aaron Gordon didn't suddenly become a defensive juggernaut; however, the difference between Gordon's defense compared to Millsaps defense certainly had that level of impact on Denver. After the Gordon signing, Millsap lost his starting role and had his minutes reduced to 14 mpg.

Yeah but unfortunately national media will eat this up. The TV networks do not want another NBA Finals without Kevin Durant, Lebron James, or Steph Curry right now. They feel 2020 was an anomaly because of the Finals being in October and the 2021 Finals were low in comparison to other Finals too probably because as compelling as the games and Giannis's story was he's not a draw by himself. Barring catastrophic injuries at the worst times or the Bucks or Nuggets shocking the world I don't see how we don't get a Nets vs Lakers Finals. Nike and the league probably want this as much as they wanted a Lakers vs Cavs Finals in 2009

I like Millsap, so him joining the Nets' Make-A-Ring program doesn't bother me as much.
